When the Lance Armstrong fallout hit the world last year, all hell seemingly broke loose. Once he admitted to Oprah that he used performance-enhancing drugs, we just knew the made-for-TV movies and biopics were on the way. And sure enough, within weeks, we learned about two different movies that were in the works. J.J. Abrahams purchased the rights to a book titled Cycle Of Lies: The Fall Of Lance Armstrong, and there was also talk about another film starring Jake Gyllenhaal. Now we’re learning that another Lance Armstrong biopic is in the works, and Bradley Cooper has signed on to produce and possibly star in the film. Click inside for more!
Complex has the story:
Another day, another Lance Armstrong biopic. According to Deadline, this one is from Game Change director Jay Roach, and has Bradley Cooper signed on to produce and possibly headline the film.
It’s not too clear whether or not Cooper will be portraying Armstrong as the rumors have been saying since this past January, or if he’ll be portraying Armstrong’s former friend Tyler Hamilton who revealed in a 2011 60 Minutes interview that he saw Armstrong doping. Cooper will definitely be producing the project, though, which is titled Red Blooded American.
This will be the third Armstrong-centric biopic to currently enter production: Ben Foster is starring as Armstrong in a biopic scripted by Trainspotting’s John Hodge, and J.J. Abrams is producing one that Cooper was coincidentally also approached to star in. Either way, everyone should probably start preparing all their doping jokes.
If you follow me on Instagram you know that I finally saw The Place Beyond The Pines earlier this week and got my friggen life changed in the process. Gawd, it was such a good movie! And I realized as I was watching it that I really, really like Bradley Cooper. Like, I can get with him as an actor. And something about his style tells me that he could deliver a great Lance Armstrong, so I’m interested in hearing more about this project. Also, I love this title: Red Blooded American.
What do you guys think? Are you ready to see Bradley Cooper take on this role?
