Two weekends ago I got to see Justin Timberlake and Jay Z in concert when they brought their massive Legends of the Summer Tour to Pasadena, CA and as luck would have it, JT and JZ brought their party to Detroit Rock City last night while I was here in town for a quick visit. My BFF Sarah and her friends already had tickets to the show so I picked up a ticket for myself and away we went. The show was fantastic, yes, but the real highlight for me was running into a bunch of PITNB readers and old friends. Only EVERYONE in the greater Detroit metropolitan area was at the show last night so it really felt like a big homecoming party.
Much like they did in SoCal, JT and JZ really brought the heat during their show last night … and they made a lot of Detroiters very happy by putting on a really big, really fun show. Ford Field was jam packed with happy faces and I have to tell you, it was really great to see. Almost every other word out of both JT and JZ‘s mouth was Detroit or Detroit Rock City and that made the night feel special too.
The best part for me was meeting so many PITNB readers both before and during the show. I got to meet and take photos with Ashley & Vanessa, David and another Ashley … and also ran into a childhood friend that I’ve known since I was about 4 years old:
Adam and I go way back … we grew up together as next door neighbors. I haven’t seen him in many years so it was nice to see him and meet his wife Kara. We were able to chat and catch up a bit for about 30 minutes so that was really cool. This guy knows all the dirt on me so, yeah, we go back. The last photo above is me with Sarah, Agnes and her sister Rebecca. The show was so much fun but honestly, I just enjoyed being home to see a concert at Ford Field with so many happy Detroiters. I’m glad I was able to attend.
Tonight, I’m planning on a sushi date with a friend after I hang out with my folks for a bit. Today is my last full day here at home so I have to make it count. Happy Hump Day!
