Yesterday was my last full day here in BEAUTIFUL Chicago and I have to say, it was very likely one of the best days I’ve ever enjoyed in this fair city. The day was long but full of friendship, love, music and hot dogs … what more can a person ask for? After a leisurely morning spent at (my temporary Chi-Town) home, my amazing hosts Monique, Jay and I went into the city to do a bit of shopping and late lunching. Mo and I then made our way to Grant Park for the 3rd and final day of Lollapalooza where we met up with my dear friend Kanani for one more day of music and mayhem. After an EPIC set by The Cure, we made our way back home for a leisurely night of decompressing on the couch. Sigh. It really was the perfect weekend.
Day 3 of Lolla was probably the best overall, mainly because of the number of great acts that performed yesterday. Tegan and Sara, Major Lazer, Beach House, Knife Party, The Cure … so many great bands, all right after one another. In between acts, Mo and I met up with Kanani and we got to meet her brother in the VIP area. I’m glad we spent some time in there cuz I also got to meet PITNB reader Colleen … who I have to say, was an absolute pleasure to meet! I often kinda want to just hang out with the readers that I meet because I feel like we have a history as friends even tho we *just* met for the first time. Colleen is one of those readers :) I’m so glad we got to meet … and how cute is our photo above?!
After we were sufficiently ROCKED by The Cure, Mo and I made our way back to her place to relax a bit with Jay and their pet pooch Prince …
… who I have already entered into a pretty serious relationship with in the few days I’ve been here. I’m really going to be heartbroken when I have to say goodbye … not just to Prince, not just to Chicago but to Monique and Jay for making me feel so welcome, so at home. My time here in Chicago has been truly amazing … so much so that I feel kinda guilty for loving the city so much that I feel like I’m cheating on Detroit. I’m a very lucky person … I have so many places that I can truly call home. Chicago has always felt like Detroit’s supercool brother to me. I think there is more than enough room in my heart for both of my beloved Midwest cities ;) Thank you for an amazing visit Chicago. I shall return. I promise!
I’m off to Detroit in a few hours and I’ll be there for a few days before I return to LA later in the week. I hope all y’all are having the best Monday ever! See you in D-Town!!
