We are just a few weeks away from the season 4 premiere of Downton Abbey (in the UK) but today we get to check out a few newly released promo photos that tease the drama ahead without spoiling anything significant. The promo photos below are safe for unspoiled viewing for anyone who is caught up with the series leading into the new season. As we already know, there has been some significant death on the series last season and those deaths will greatly impact the characters on the show in season 4. I cannot WAIT for Downton Abbey to return … and these new promo photos are a great tease for season 4.
The first pictures of Downton Abbey series four have emerged. Lady Mary Crawley, played by Michelle Dockery, is seen in one image holding baby George while standing next to Tom Branson (Allen Leech), who is carrying baby Sybil. The last series ended with Mary giving birth to her son shortly before husband Matthew (Dan Stevens) died in a car crash. Her brother-in-law Tom lost his wife Sybil (Jessica Brown Findlay) last series when she died during childbirth, meaning they are both single parents. Daisy Lewis has been cast as Tom’s new love interest. Other pictures from the upcoming episodes show Lady Rose MacClare (Lily James), Daisy Mason (Sophie McShera) and Mr Carson (Jim Carter). Speaking of the new series, John Bates actor Brendan Coyle told Digital Spy: “I’m going to stick my neck out and say it’s our best series ever. It’s certainly my best series ever. I’m really, really grateful for Julian [Fellowes] for that. My storylines are phenomenal… And I’m not going to die in a car crash!” Downton Abbey is expected to return to ITV in September.
It feels like it has been an ice age since Downton Abbey was on TV so, yeah, I’m anxious for the show’s return. We here in the US won’t get Downton Abbey on PBS until January but the show will debut on ITV in the UK in just a few weeks … and, undoubtedly, the eps will appear online shortly thereafter. I honestly cannot wait until January to watch the new season so I’m gonna hafta cheat … AND I CAN’T WAIT!!! These are great photos … and they should tide me over until Downton Abbey season 4 debuts in September.
