So … where to begin? Firstly, I have to apologize to the San Diego Comic-Con Gods for failing to believe in their benevolence over the years. I’ve purposed stayed away from Comic-Con and now I know that I have been a fool. A FOOL, I SAY! Yesterday was my first full day of Comic-Con and OMG, I was not ready for the massive and OVERWHELMING amounts of amazingness. Truly, I was blown away. Darion and I spent the day inside the convention center trying not to buy EVERYTHING IN SIGHT. Then, last night, we went to a couple of parties that truly showed me just how amazing the Comic-Con experience can be. I took some photos, click below if you’d like to see them (I think you’re gonna wanna see them).

The convention floor was insane … madness … purely beautiful and wonderful madness. I fell in love with everything. I’m not even kidding. I picked up fun stuff from Transformers, Thundercats, Masters of the Universe, Dexter … I mean, I could’ve sold my soul for all the things I wanted to buy. Just … everything, everywhere … I know I was slack-jawed in awe all day long. After we saw everything we wanted to see (and buy), we headed back to change for a night of parties. First up, we went to the Warner Bros. party and people, it was unreal:

Jason Momoa, Clare Kramer, Stephen Amell, Julie Benz, John Barrowman, Henry Cavill … just a few of the celebs we got to meet and chat with. Honestly, they were all lovely but I damn near melted into a puddle on the floor when Jason Momoa put his arm around me. Ye gods, I literally gasped. I was so happy that I got to meet Clare in person after many months of our chatting online. I’ve loved her for years and she is truly as lovely as she seems in person … and more beautiful, if you can believe it. Julie Benz, sigh … she is a goddess. John Barrowman was so nice and Henry Cavill? HOLY SHIT! Superman … need I say more? I cannot send out enough love for my friend Tammy at WB for helping make my first Comic-Con experience one I’ll remember forever. After the WB party, we made our way to the Nerd HQ party to dance with Joss Whedon and Nathan Fillion and, you know, hang out with the King in the North Robb Stark (Richard Madden) from Game of Thrones (er, hang out in that I peed next to him in the bathroom but, again, it wasn’t really an opportunity to say hi). This party was more relaxed for the celebs so it wasn’t really the photo-taking kind of party. It was amazing tho. I believe we are going to hit that party again tonight.

Thruout the day and night, I got to run into various friends old and new …

… which made me realize that I have finally seen the light about Comic-Con. Yes it is as overwhelming as I feared (more, actually) and yes there are more things I’d like to buy then I can really afford but … that’s the fun. To be honest, my decision not to attend Comic-Con over the years was influenced by someone who’s name I shall not mention and I guess I regret that now. Still, it matters not. I’m here now, I’m having the time of my life and I couldn’t be a happier geek if I tried.

Today, Darion and I are doing a Walking Dead obstacle run course thing then parties tonight but sleep at some point this afternoon I hope. Today is our last full day before we head back up to LA tomorrow afternoon so we’re gonna make the most of it. I apologize if my Instagram account has been annoying … I’m just having a hard time not wanting to share all the fun.

Happy Saturday, all !!!

  • Vicky

Trent, I was feeling super jealous over Henry Cavil… but that pales in comparison to Robb freaking Stark. Did you sneak a peek in the bathroom? lol. Is he as beautiful in person as on GOT?

    • @Vicky — Alas, no peek. I was bizzy doing my biz, minding my business as usual and then went to the sink to wash my hands … that’s when I realized who was next to me. I can happily report that the King in the North washes his hands too.

  • Lizzy

You look like you are having the time of your life!!! It puts a smile on my face :) It so fun to see all of your pictures Trent!!!

  • Lorraineliloe

I didn’t get tickets this year to the convention but last night some friends and I went down to gaslamp to check out the fun and whoah have things changed incredibly for SDCC in the last 10 years. Thank you for sharing so much of your fun. I’m much more encouraged to get tickets for next year. In way I’m sad that it isn’t as low key as it used to be as people were able to walk right up to writers/artists for signings. But now, it seems that that’s so much fun to offer all weekend. It was totally transformed near the convention. When I went in 2008 there was no line to get a real The Walking Dead zombie drawn our book, I could not believe that huge display I saw on your instagram..crazy! All of your pictures were awesome Trent! I hope you come back next year too!

  • Joan

I died 5 times while reading this post.

So happy you had an amazing time! I’ve been trying to keep up with all the Comic Con news and that alone has been an exhausting feat. I can’t even imagine how it would feel to be RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF ALL THAT AWESOME.

  • Alyssa

Glad you had so much fun!! It looks completely overwhelming, but totally amazing.

For the record, that person should be called Voldemort on this site. We’ll all giggle. Then again, we shouldn’t bring attention to it anyway. BUT, if we do, we all should totally say Voldemort.

  • Shannon m.

Ugh, I hate when Voldemort ruins life..
