Pearl Jam Announces The Release Of A New Album, New Single

by

Earlier this week, Pearl Jam announced that they will be embarking on a concert tour this Fall and today we find out why … in October, the band will release a new album titled Lightning Bolt. Along with the tour and album announcement, Pearl Jam have also released a new song for our listening pleasure. Click below to see the album art for Lightning Bolt, find out more information about the album and get your first listen of the band’s new single Mind Your Manners.

Pearl Jam will release their much-anticipated tenth studio album, Lightning Bolt, on Monkeywrench Records/Republic Records on October 15, 2013 in the US. Internationally, the album will be released on October 14, 2013 and distributed by Universal Music Group International. Produced by Brendan O’Brien, Lightning Bolt marks Pearl Jam’s first studio album since the highly acclaimed Backspacer, which was released nearly four years ago in September of 2009. Lightning Bolt is available for pre-order today at pearljam.com/lightningbolt and at iTunes. The first track off of the album, “Mind Your Manners” will be released worldwide on radio.

I dig this track … it’s fast and hard and reminds me a lot of the songs the band put out on their 1994 album Vitalogy. Pearl Jam albums are pretty hit or miss for me … I love the band generally but not always everything they put out. I’m encouraged by the sound of Mind Your Manners and I’m intrigued to hear what the rest of Lightning Bolt sounds like. It’s been YEARS since I’ve seen Pearl Jam live, maybe it’s time I check ‘em out again. Any 90’s grunge fans out there? What do y’all think of this new track?

My boyfriend is a HUGE PJ fan. I mean huge. Like he has a PJ tattoo on his person. Like, we fight constantly because he wants to hang up his concert posters in our house. Like, he’s seen them live more times than he could probably count.

So while I’m not the biggest fan(I do like some of their slower stuff and I really enjoyed Eddie Vedder’s solo album), I am excited about the tour announcement. This means I get to travel at the small price of seeing a couple of their shows :)

I am also a huge fan and have seen them close to 20 times!!! I just went to see them last night in London Ontario Canada and it was an amazing show as usual. I also got tickets to the Buffalo show yesterday. So now the Pearl Jam countdown is on again :)
