We made it! After a bit of a harrowing flight, Kirsten and I successfully made it to Stockholm, Sweden where we will be holidaying for the next few days. For the most part, the getting here was painless … but our journey was not without incident and drama. That said, all of our woes melted away as soon as we landed on Swedish terra firma. I’m running on fumes at the moment but I’m trying to get work done for the day so I can … prolly crash out until tomorrow. We haven’t been here long but I think it’s safe to say that we’ve fallen in love with Stockholm already.

Kirsten and I were really disappointed that the international plane we got from Delta was ancient and not at all posh. Not only does the bucket of bolts predate wifi, it probably predates the TV as well … no wifi, no TVs, really no nothing. Kiki and I made the most of but she decided to sleep as much as possible and I decided to read as much as possible so that neither one of us could pay attention to the crappy plane. We had to make a connector flight in Amsterdam and managed to get on that plane on time … which brightened us up considerably since we were so close to our destination. We arrived safe and sound … our luggage did not :( We are expecting our bags to be delivered to our hotel later tonight but … well … we’ll see. On the plus side, our hotel here in Sweden is BEAUTIFUL and very, very posh. It’s going to make a very nice home away from home.

Thank you all for the kind words and Swedish suggestions … I plan on taking all of our recs very seriously so, please, keep ‘em coming! I’ll be very happy once our luggage is delivered but, honestly, I have to admit … just being here makes me happy. I think we’re going to enjoy a very fun trip. If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you’ll see that we’ll be using the hashtag #Stockholmies for this trip … cuz we’re nerds ;) Let the Swedish fun commence!!

I flew with Delta from Manchester, UK to Atlanta, GA – awful plane, no tv, just ten hours of sitting next to a sleeping stranger :(

So you landed at Arlanda airport. The airport is miles out of Stockholm because it was situated after a study of how much the city would grow in a century. You must see the Wasa Museum (great ship) and Uppsala University.Go to Gothenburg and its famous clock.Rent a car and go to Denmark,as an american you do not need visas to travel between Scandinavian countries.I went to Scandinavia years ago and entrenous I prefer Denmark over the others.

I missed that you were going to Sweden! Be sure to try Swedish Pizza – it’s amazing. Specifically, if you can get kebab inspired pizza, it is something I drool about every time I think about it…

And candy. Swedes eat more candy per capita than anyone else. There is a reason for this. Mmmm… Bilar.

Oh my god, I have totally missed that you were going to Sweden! I am from Sweden and have followed your blog since it was still .blogspot.com so prob 2005 :)

Go to Old Town, it’s beautiful. Go have a coffee or hot chocolate on the café Chokladkoppen. It’s a gay-friendly café at Stortorget and the white chocolate is so good!
