Beyoncé Voices Her Support For Marriage Equality

During her concert stop here in LA on Friday night, Beyoncé gave a shout out in support of marriage equality right before she launched her performance of Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It). Right before she performed the song she said, “If you like it you should be able to put a ring on it“. Her comment was met with thunderous applause in the wake of the Ninth Circuit Court’s decision to immediately life the stay on California’s Proposition 8 which immediately allowed same-sex marriages to return to the state. Apparently, Bey wanted her message to reach a wider audience so she shared a handwritten message of support for marriage equality with all of her followers on her various social media networks. See the message below.

It’s no surprise that Beyoncé is in full support of the forward movement of marriage equality in this country. She has spoken out many times before of her belief that same-sex couples should be allowed to marry in this country. When she made her comment in concert Friday night, it was clear that she was preaching to the choir here in Los Angeles. I was happy that night, Bey’s comment made the night even more happy. We still have a ways to go before the other 27 states in this country legalize same-sex marriage but we’re gonna get there. With the hard work of gays and straight allies alike, we will definitely get there some day soon.

Love it! And agreed Trent, we will certainly get there soon enough. But correction – we have an even longer ways to go with 37* more states needed to legalize Same-Sex marriage. Hopefully that number will be down 10+ notches soon! :-)
