After 6 fake seasons of the faux “reality series”, MTV aired the series finale of The Hills back in 2010 with an ending that revealed the truth about the series … that everything on the show was scripted. Today we learn that MTV, as part of their upcoming RetroMTVBrunch, will air an alternate series finale episode of The Hills. Because the show wasn’t actually a reality series, different endings were filmed for the show. Later this summer, we will get to see one of those alternate endings … much to my embarrassing glee ;D
MTV has revealed plans to air an alternate ending to The Hills. It’s been three years since the part-scripted reality show came to an end after six seasons. The final episode ended with main character Kristin Cavallari driving away from her on-off boyfriend Brody Jenner. The cameras then revealed that the scene was shot on a studio backlot, hinting at the scripted aspect of the show. The alternate ending will air in the US as part of MTV’s ‘RetroMTVBrunch’, on August 9 at 11.30am ET, Entertainment Weekly reports. ‘RetroMTVBrunch’ begins August 8 at 9am ET and will be airing marathons of shows such as Laguna Beach and The Hills. Cast members from MTV programs including Awkward will be providing commentary on classic clips in between airings.
OH MAN, this is the best news ever. I’m sure quite a few of you remember how terribly awesome The Hills was when it aired on MTV. The roots of this blog go way back to the Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County days … the precursor to The Hills so this news holds special meaning for me. I don’t know that 3 years qualifies as “retro” but I ain’t mad at MTV for bringing the show back for one last hurrah. We have some time to plan for this special return of The Hills but, yeah, I’m really excited. Any guesses what we might see in this alternate ending? How amazing would it be if we got to see Lauren LC Conrad in a fist fight with Kristin Cavallari? Sigh, a boy can dream.
