Watch: Steve Carell, Toni Collette And Maya Rudolph Star In ‘The Way, Way Back’

From The Guys Who Wrote 'The Descendants'
Steve Carell Playing... The BAD Guy?!

The dysfunctional family comedy will never ever get old, especially if it’s done right and it looks like The Way, Way Back might have been done right. Steve Carell and the ever-amazing Toni Collette play Trent and Pam, two lovers who are too wrapped up in themselves to notice Pam‘s son, played by Liam James. They take some kind of epic vacation and all hell breaks loose. The cast looks pretty awesome, with Maya Rudolph, Allison Janney, AnnaSophia Robb and Sam Rockwell joining in on the fun. I had the chance to see an advanced screening of this film last week and I thought it was a great coming-of-ager type of film. Steve Carell’s role was quite a departure from what he usually plays in most of his films. I thought Allison Janney’s character was quite hilarious, especially towards her children. Sam Rockwell played a character that I have not seen in movies he’s been in, so I thought he a very inspirational character in the movie.
Overall, everyone did a great job in this film. This movie, IMO, is along the same vein as “Juno” and “Little Miss Sunshine”. So if you enjoyed those films, I highly recommend The Way, Way Back.

  2. This looks cute! I definitely want to see it. I have to admit, though, I kinda don’t love the idea of Steve Carrell as the bad guy!
