First Listen: Lana Del Rey’s ‘Great Gatsby’ Song ‘Young & Beautiful’ Gets Released

It's Pretty Dope

Earlier today we got to listen to a snippet of Back To Black, the highly-anticipated Amy Winehouse cover from Beyoncé and André 3000. The Great Gatsby soundtrack is turning out to be as awesome as I thought it would be when we first saw the tracklist; I loved what we heard of the Back To Black cover and I loved, loved, loved that Florence + The Machine track. Today we’re also getting the full version of Lana Del Rey‘s contribution to the soundtrack, Young & Beautiful. Click inside for more!

Lana Del Rey, Young & Beautiful:

Orchestral version:

OMG, I’m gonna eargasm all over this soundtrack. I swear.

I know PITNBr VV was waiting for this song to drop. VV, you likey? I think the lyrics make so much sense for the Gatsby storyline:

I’ve seen the world
Done it all
Had my cake now
Diamonds, brilliant
In bel air now
Hot summer nights, mid july
When you and I were forever wild
The crazy days, city lights
The way you’d play with me like a child

Will you still love me
When I’m no longer young and beautiful?

Sigh. You can go to DirectLyrics to check out the rest of the lyrics to Young & Beautiful. So psyched to hear more of these songs!

The Great Gatsby soundtrack will be available on iTunes on May 7.
The Great Gatsby hits theatres May 10.

Say what you will about this cray cray tragic baby doll with perpetual duck lip, but when she gets in the studio she does things with her voice that are incredible and hypnotizing. Although she’s more into the 1950s and 60s, her vintage style lends itself very well to the roaring 20s. I still much prefer the Florence song, but Florence is amazing and flawless (obviously… she’s best friends with Blake Lively).
