Britney Spears Reveals That She Has Recorded A Song For ‘The Smurfs 2′

Back in late January we learned from our dear Britney Spears herself that she had recorded a song for her sons Sean Preston and Jayden James. At the time, it wasn’t immediately clear what the song was or when it would be released. Some speculated that it might be a song featured on her upcoming 8th album, others surmised that it might be a song recorded for a kids show, like Sesame Street. Today we learn straight from the horse’s mouth that the song will be featured on the soundtrack to the upcoming animated sequel film The Smurfs 2. Click below to read the news straight from Britney herself as well as information from the official press release.

Pop icon Britney Spears will release a song for Columbia Pictures/Sony Pictures Animation’s highly anticipated family comedy The Smurfs™ 2, entitled “Ooh La La,” via Kemosabe / RCA Records. “Ooh La La,” which will play at the end credits of the film, was written by Lukasz Gottwald (Dr. Luke), Joshua Coleman (Ammo), Henry Walter (Cirkut), Bonnie McKee, Jacob Kasher Hindlin (J Kash), Lola Blanc and Fransisca Hall and produced by Dr. Luke, Ammo and Cirkut for Prescription Songs. The Smurfs 2, the sequel to the hit hybrid live action/animated film that took in over $560 million at the worldwide box office in 2011, is set to hit theaters on July 31, 2013. More information on the song coming soon. Britney Spears added, “I have always loved the Smurfs as a kid and now my boys are the biggest Smurfs fans EVER. I wanted to surprise them with a song in the movie. I know they’ll think it’s Smurftastic!” Lia Vollack, president of Worldwide Music for Sony Pictures, added, “We are completely thrilled to have Britney involved with The Smurfs. She is an amazing artist and her boys are Smurfs fans, so it’s a great fit for all of us.” Raja Gosnell, director of The Smurfs 2, added, “I am very excited that Britney is joining our smurfy adventure. ‘Ooh La La’ is the perfect Smurf-party song, and the perfect button on the film for audiences around the world.”

YES! I love this!! As you may know, The Smurfs 2 will be set in Paris, France so the song title Ooh La La makes a lot of sense. Now, while I would much rather prefer for Britney to release her new album sooner rather than later, I don’t mind if she wants to put out a new song on a movie soundtrack in the meantime. The Smurfs 2 is due to hit theaters at the end of July but hopefully we won’t have to wait that long for this new Britney song to be released. Keep your ears peeled, hopefully we’ll hear something new very soon.

I can’t wait to hear it! I’m literally dying for new Britney music. I don’t know how much i want Dr. Luke back in the picture though, but if it’s just for this song (and not a whole album) i’m ok with it. Britney always delivers great music and i hope the song has double meaning lyrics like is said on several websites.
