First Look: ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ Previews 2 1/2 Minutes Of Film Footage

It’s here! It’s finally here! During the 2013 MTV Movie Awards, a full 2 1/2 minutes of film footage was previewed from the upcoming sequel film The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. In case you missed watching it on TV or just want to watch it again (and again and again), you can click the embed above and watch the preview in FULL! Those of you familiar with the book Catching Fire know will see that a very important part of the story is not featured at all in this preview clip. Instead, we get to see footage of the events that lead to the … important part. I suspect we will see many more previews in the coming months, previews that will show different scenes from the movie but I, for one, LOVE this first look at the film. I’ve already watched the preview clip a few times … and I plan on watching it again … and again and again. Give it a look, see what you think. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire hits theaters in November.

    *GIRLY SCREAMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG I SERIOUSLY CAN’T WAIT!!!!!!!!!! Hold on. I don’t know what is the “important part” that you were referring to haha. I need to re-read the book again!

Only 2 things popped up on my mind when I finished the trailer:

    1) Katniss and Peeta NEED to sleep together soon.
    2) I can’t wait for them to make Mockingjay like RIIIIIIIGHT NOW because #1 will be included in it. I hope. Damn. We need to start a petition to demand for a sex scene! Don’t care about the kids! Why should they watch it anyway! They should be home doing homework and watching Barney! PG-ratings be damned!

Producers and director! Bring on the sexiness! Loads of it! We adults can handle it! And there are enough adults out there who would wanna watch it so you won’t have to worry about the box office!

    Sorry people. It’s the hormones.

    • @Luna — I’m referring to the Quarter Quell. It’s not secret that it will be featured in the film but for those who haven’t read the book I decided not to spoil.

      # 1 made me go WTF, with a long, extend w.

    • Danielle

Except there are no sex scenes to be had…?

  • Meghan

    Can. Not. Wait.

TRENT!!! I’m so excited to freak out over this with you!!!!!!!! This trailer is pretty much PERFECT (I would have liked a little more Peeta though). I absolutely already love the added scenes with President Snow and Plutarch! I love that the movies give us more perspectives other than just Katniss. Also, I am so happy they didn’t give the big twist away! I remember being so surprised and worried when I first read the announcement so I’m happy it looks like movie-only viewers will get that! But because of them hiding that surprise, we didn’t get any glimpses of Finnick, Johanna or the other new characters. I can deal with that though. ;) I am just so excited! It feels like they seriously raised the bar with Catching Fire!

Whoa, that comment really got away from me! I’m just SO EXCITED!

  • nicole

it looks like its gonna be soooooooooooooo good.

  • Leslie

Prez Snow kinda hints to it in the end!!!!! I’m so excited for this movie to come out and so glad it doesn’t have a fake feel like some movies that are originally awesome books!!!!!

  • Ben@pr

She looks like Cate Blanchett in that still.

Loved it! No secret. I love Gale. He is one of my favorite characters on the series. I understand why we got more Gale than Peeta. Catching Fire is Gale’s “breakout” book, really. This is the book where we start to getting to know him as a character, and outside Katniss’ thoughts. I’m so excited for what’s to come! I’m also that they are focusing on the darker aspects of these books — the revolts, the sparking revolution– and that they aren’t just making it be another teen film.

I wonder if they are going to keep the Quarter Quell under wraps for the entire promo. I genuinely don’t think so, but I think it’s cool that they did on this first trailer.

    • Joan

Nice, real-life parallel in the trailer and the Egypt’s revolts in 2011: I’m loving this. This is exactly what the books are about. So proud.

Sorry for the double post, but has anyone read “Divergent”? If not, I highly recommend it. It’s also dystopian fiction. I finished Book 1 last night and was surprised about how intense it got. I didn’t expect it. Veronica Roth doesn’t hold back much. I think fans of THG will love it. Starting Book 2 tonight!

I love this!!!! I am so freaking happy that JLaw was cast in this role. Look at her eyes in that still…they carry a sense of history, wisdom, and grave concern. I feel like the movie has the gravity that the books do.

(Sadly…after yesterday in Boston, I can’t stop thinking about the 3rd book and how I hope that no one dangerous takes the strategy in the 3rd movie to heart. I am sure it has been stated before, but I couldnt’ stop thinking about it yesterday…the second wave).
