Gwen Stacy Meets Mary Jane Watson On The Set Of ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2′

Peter Parker's Women

Last month we learned that principal filming has begun in NYC on the set of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and, as you may recall, we got our first look at actress Shailene Woodley on set in character as Mary Jane Watson. Today we get to see Shailene‘s Mary Jane filming scenes with Peter Parker‘s original ladylove Gwen Stacy (played by Emma Stone). As you can see below, the ladies filmed a pivotal scene on Peter‘s front porch where they meet for the first time … and it wasn’t awkward at all. Check out the photos below but BE WARNED, the quoted article features plot information that may be spoilery to some readers about The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Peter Parker’s love rivals Gwen Stacy and Mary Jane Watson come face-to-face on the set of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The superhero sequel, which is currently filming in New York, sees Peter (Andrew Garfield) confronting new enemies in the form of Electro (Jamie Foxx) and Rhino (Paul Giamatti). As he heads towards high school graduation, he is forced to wrestle with the promise he made to Gwen’s father at the close of last summer’s Amazing Spider-Man. The Descendants star Shailene Woodley is a new addition to the Spider-Man cast as Mary Jane, taking on a role originally played by Kirsten Dunst in the Tobey Maguire trilogy. The Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb is back behind the camera for the follow-up to last summer’s box office hit. Alongside Mary Jane, the sequel will also re-introduce the characters of Harry Osborn and Norman Osborn, with Lawless actor Dane DeHaan and Chris Cooper taking on the respective roles. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will open in the UK on April 18, 2014, and will arrive in US cinemas May 2.

I mean … no offense to Shailene but I love Emma so much that I’m totally on Team Gwen right now. I know that Mary Jane ends up becoming Peter Parker‘s eternal love but … Emma‘s turn as Gwen Stacy charmed me so much, I want HER to be Peter‘s main lady … but, alas, it’s not meant to be. This first look at the ladies’ first meeting is really cool I think. But, honestly, I’m really looking forward to our first look at the film’s villains in costume. Even tho I think Spider-Man (and the overall Marvel Universe) has some of the lamest villains in comic book history, I’m curious to see how Electro (lame) and The Rhino (lamer) will look in real life. 2014 is still a very long time to wait but getting to see photos from the set makes the waiting seem not so bad.

  2. Thanks to Emma I am so Team Gwen, it isn’t even funny. Shailene has her work cut out for her! P.S. I am totally obsessed with Emma/Gwen’s outfit.
