After the release yesterday of official Capitol portraits of Peeta Mellark (HERE), Gale Hawthorne (HERE) and Finnick Odair (HERE) we were teased with the release today of the official Capitol portrait of “his emminence”, the man who is “adorned by all” … which, of course, meant the all-powerful President Coriolanus Snow (wickedly played by Donald Sutherland). Just moments ago, President Snow‘s portrait was released and as you can see below, it’s a quite regal photo. Thus far, we’ve seen portraits of a bunch of good guys — including our hero Katniss Everdeen (played by Jennifer Lawrence) — but today’s portrait features the biggest bad in the Hunger Games saga. I’ve noticed that all of the Panem Tributes are looking at the camera in their Capitol portraits, the characters who are NOT competing in the Hunger Games are looking straight ahead, away from the camera … you can see this in Effie Trinket, Caesar Flickerman, Cinna and of course President Snow‘s portraits. Haymitch Abernathy is also looking away from camera and even tho he is a former tribute who has competed in the games, he is not competing in the Hunger Games in Catching Fire. As far as I can tell, there are no teases for any upcoming photos so … this might be the last official Capitol portrait that we get. Personally, I think they should’ve ended the run with Katniss‘s photo because it is truly the most spectacular of them all. I suspect we’ll get more promo photos at some point but this photo of President Snow might be the last for a while … and what a way to end, eh?

My first thought here is someone hemmed his pants too short XD. I am not sure of President Snow in, well, not white or light colours. Overall these pics are amazing and I don’t want to for this movie. I want it now!
i agree with you about releasing Katniss last. its been by far the best, but im pretty sure i read somewhere (maybe in the comments section on the blogÉ) that Katniss leaked so they released it early.
You’re right, Nicole. Katniss leaked early forcing them to release her portrait earlier than planned. I’m sure they were wanting to save her for last so it sucks that someone had to ruin that for them.
@nicole — If leaked, that makes sense. It’s a bummer Katniss couldn’t come last but at least we got to enjoy the goods early :D
I looove this one. It is regal while also being able to creep me the eff out. I am loving that he is wearing gloves too. Creepy. I’m sad this is the last one though! I’m sure there will be more fun promo soon (I hope!). Dare I say… A trailer?!
I’m fighting so hard not to reread the books. I can’t wait for all the movies to end and than go back to enjoy it!

I love all of these. I really like the texture of the pictures. I like how the textiles they used and walls, chair, etc. are all really presented in a way that makes me feel like I would know what it is like to place my hand on them…which makes his gloves all the more scary. So many movie images are all shiny now, and I like their use of rough and smooth…kind of like the Capital. So plastic and shiny, but so rough and primal at the same time.
Actually, Liam Hemsworth, as far as I can remember is looking straight into the camera in his photo and Gale doesn’t compete in the games, so it may just be coincidence?
@Fifi4life — Yes, you’re right … I guess it is a coincidence. Just seeing all of the thumbnails in a row (http://www.pinkisthenewblog.com/tag/the-hunger-games-catching-fire) it’s very obvious that some characters are looking at the camera and others are definitely not.
I don’t think it was a coincidence. All of the characters looking into the camera are also holding white roses and are in the uncomfortable, wooden chairs as well. So there is a reason and pattern there!
Indeed, ClaireMichelle. As far as Catching Fire goes, the ones holding roses are under the direct wrath of President Snow. The white rose comes back to President Snow. Maybe looking at the camera is a way to show their defiance.
