First Look: Emma Watson Is Doing Very Bad Things In Sofia Coppola’s New Movie, ‘The Bling Ring’

Based On Actual Events
'Let's Go Shopping'

Aw shizzzz. Emma Watson is not playing around, lol! A little teaser trailer has just been released for Sofia Coppola‘s new flick The Bling Ring, and it looks like a lot of fun. Pretty rich kids doing bad things (kinda has that Havoc feel… and I effing love Havoc), and it’s even more exciting since it’s based on actual events. The Bling Ring tells the story of a group of well-to-do teens who steal from celebrity homes. I’m excited because the teaser looks very different from some of Coppola‘s other work (like The Virgin Suicides, or Lost In Translation), so it’ll be interesting to see how this pans out. Plus, Emma looks like a fun bad girl, lol. Israel Broussard, Katie Chang, Claire Pfister, Georgia Rock and Carlos Miranda co-star. Peep the video for more!

The Bling Ring hits theatres June 14, 2013.

  1. This looks even better than I was imagining! I love seeing Emma in such a different role! It will be fun seeing how this movie plays out too. Like, will I become sympathetic to the little thieves? Or will I be cheering when they finally get caught? Ah, I’m just excited!! :)

  2. looks like it could end up being a decent movie. im excited to see Emma play such a different role.

“Video is private” – Can’t see – bumma.

  4. I’m torn about this..On one hand, I don’t want those morons who actually did this to get attention or be portrayed as cool..Then again, I love Sofia Coppola and KNOW it’s going to be a super fun movie, especially with little Emma Watson playing a bad girl..Hmmm..Ah..Who am I kidding..I so rarely go to movies so I’m sure I’ll be renting this one, as usual..

  5. I agree, good point about not rewarding the people it is based on.

Does anyone know if they sold their rights to the story, or if this script was written simply from publicly available police/court documents that gave details?

Alexis (the girl Emma’s character is based upon) was in touch with Sofia Coppola for the script. I’m not familiar with the details of the contract.

  6. I love Emma Watson but I hope she improved on her American accent for this film!
