While I was winging my way from LA to Detroit, the official Capitol portrait for Gale Hawtorne (played by Liam Hemsworth) from the upcoming sequel film The Hunger Games: Catching Fire was released … and boy, is it all smoldery. As you may know, the protagonist character Katniss Everdeen (played by Jennifer Lawrence) is in a complicated love triangle betwixt Gale and her fellow District 12 tribute Peeta Mellark (played by Josh Hutcherson), whose official Capitol portrait was released earlier today. Of the two, I think Gale comes across as the more manly suitor while Peeta comes across as the sweeter suitor … which means Katniss has a difficult decision on her hands. As much as I love Peeta, I think I prefer Gale‘s official Capitol portrait. What do y’all think? Which of these two dudes do you prefer portraitwise?

i like Gale’s more than Peeta’s because well..i like my men manly. though to be fair, Peeta was dressed by the capitol. but the contrast between Peeta & Gale’s portraits are spot on, just perfect.

I love both the portraits and they are both attractive but I prefer Peeta as a character and I like his portrait more. I love how both portraits are perfect for each character though! I just don’t understand why Gale would have a portrait in the Hunger Games world. I do like it though. Now you better post Finnick’s!! ;)
They posted all three of the young male leads in one day and my ovaries can barely handle it!!! WHEW!!!
Gale having a portrait makes sense. he’s a key character in how things play out & everything that happens there in after.
I mean in the sense that these are supposed to be Capitol portraits. The Capitol would have no reason to care about Gale since he is just Katniss’ “cousin.” ;) Unless they do portraits for Mrs. E and Prim?? These portraits seemed to be more focused on people related to the Capitol and games, that’s all I meant! :) Obviously Gale is important to the story though!

I think Nicole is up to something with that because all the tributes (and now Gale) have that white rose on hand! I’m starting to see the white rose as Snow’s stamp on the people that are openly seen as threats by the Capitol. Technically, Haymitch and Cinna would are threats, too, but the Capitol is unaware of their hidden agendas. If Plutarch Heavensbee doesn’t have a rose, I’m sold.

I remain Team Gale, both as a character and as a portrait. For some reason, I always connected more with Gale than Peeta (though I do get why people were always crazy for Peeta…probably for the same reasons I preferred Gale…LOL! I’m complicated.) Katniss and Gale were too alike for their own good.
Because of my ramble, I forgot to add that there’s seems to be sadness in Gale’s eyes. There’s a faraway look in his eyes… that’s kind of refreshing, given that he is such a strong and unsubmissive character.
