New Blocks, I’m A Kid

The TV Guide

Earlier this week I posted some photos of a few small Lego building block sets that I picked up and put together over the weekend and I mentioned at the time that I had a couple more sets left to assemble. I had a quiet day here at home yesterday so I busted out one of these sets and got to work. I was surprised how long it took me to put the whole thing together, to be honest. I found myself confused a couple of times and had to disassemble and then reassemble a few times just to make sure I was putting it all together properly. After a couple hours of “fun”, I managed to build the set successfully. They say that working on puzzles relaxes the mind but … I’m not so sure about this. I had to drink a couple of beers just to get thru the process ;)

This set is called Batwing Battle Over Gotham City and it features the Batwing jet (with moveable wings) and the Jokercoper (with spinning blades). I found myself wondering if this set was missing any pieces every time I ran into trouble but, as usual, the set was not missing anything. I will say, tho, that the instructions were not 100% correct. The instructions showed a piece that absolutely was not included … a different, simliar piece was included. I had to get down to the final pieces to verify but, yes, the folks at Lego are not infallible. Honestly, I really enjoy putting these models together. As I mentioned before, I’ve always been a fan of Lego building sets so playing with these sets really takes me back. I have one set left to assemble but I think I’ll save it for later.

For the past few days, I’ve pretty much been held hostage in my home. Massive renovations are taking place in the hallway on my floor and as a result, there is noise, dirt and LOTS of dust everywhere. The dust has been creeping into my home thru the doorway cracks and it’s been driving me insane. I have to get out of the house later today to meet with a tax accountant (UGH) so my day just keeps getting better.

I fly out to Detroit early tomorrow morning for the rest of the weekend. I’ll be visiting my folks and some friends and I’ll be running the Corktown 5K on Sunday. I’m hoping that the messy construction will be less annoying by the time I get back. OY! Happy Hump Day!

Ah, the twisted mind of Lego. I can’t count the number of times I’ve had to get online help to stop my son from having a meltdown. Halo Megablocks is particularly challenging for non-builders like myself! And now, Trent, the mother in me begs you not to pull it all apart and leave the pieces scattered around on the floor, because I WILL come along and vacuum them up!

  2. I just pray you didn’t have same size pieces you needed to disassemble – some of mine had knife marks!
