Yesterday we learned that Anne Hathaway issued an apology statement of sorts over her much-discussed Oscar gown. Now I made a joke about how all the nipple-shaming had finally forced Anne to come out and apologize for what she wore, but really (as PITNBr Krissy pointed out) the apology had to do with Anne‘s last-minute switch to a Prada dress, rather than the Valentino she’d originally planned to wear. We’re now hearing reports about Kerry Washington‘s decision to wear Miu Miu to the Oscars also may require an apology… lmao. I love these rich people problems so much! Click inside for more!
Here are the deets, according to the NY Post:
“Django Unchained” star Kerry Washington risked the wrath of Harvey Weinstein after his wife Georgina Chapman’s fashion line Marchesa created a stunning custom-made gown for her to wear to the Oscars — but the actress decided not to wear it at the last minute. Washington opted instead for a coral Miu Miu frock. Some in the fashion business wondered, “Isn’t it career kamikaze to upset Harvey’s wife on such an important night?” A Marchesa rep declined to comment. Washington’s rep didn’t respond.
Ha! First of all, I had no clue that Harvey Weinstein‘s wife was behind Marchesa. That’s… pretty awesome. But seriously? This whole story sounds like a pure drama-starter, lol. I’m sure Kerry‘s fine and Marchesa‘s fine, and everyone’s fine. Plus, I loved Kerry‘s Miu Miu gown, so I’m gonna assume that she made the right choice.

Thou shalt not offend the fabulosity that is Georgina Chapman.
“I love these rich people problems so much!” I know what you mean! Someone was swallowed by the earth while sleeping in the safety of his bed, and yet, Georgina probably thought the world was ending when Ms. Washington chose to wear *gasp!* Miu Miu! Oh, the humanity!
No clue?!
Don’t you watch Project Runway? Wait, don’t answer that. I’m WAY to fragile right now…
The fashionista in me is thinking that another a-lister who wasn’t nominated probably wanted that Marchesa dress and couldn’t get it because Kerry wanted it, and because Kerry changed it last minute the Marchesa dress didn’t go down the red carpet at all. The Oscars red carpet is almost like fashion week for evening wear. That is why there are apologies.
You’re probably spot on the money, Lauren xx. Never thought of it that way, but knowing how political that scene can be, I can totally see that being the case.
I heard Jennifer Aniston did the same thing.
