See? See what y’all did? All that bashing of Anne Hathaway and her Oscar dress, and now she’s gotta issue an apology to People Magazine so y’all will forgive her. LMAO. I actually liked Anne‘s Prada dress, but a lot of you felt like her nipples out-shined her big win for Best Supporting Actress. Now Anne‘s speaking out to explain the fashion faux pas everyone’s (apparently) still talking about (and which PITNBr Carl aptly dubbed Nipplegate 2013). Click inside for more!
People has the story:
What’s a girl to do?
Best Supporting Actress winner Anne Hathaway’s pale pink (and hotly debated) Prada gown wasn’t the actress’s first choice for the Academy Awards last Sunday.
“It came to my attention late Saturday night that there would be a dress worn to the Oscars that is remarkably similar to the Valentino I had intended to wear, and so I decided it was best for all involved to change my plans,” she tells PEOPLE in an exclusive statement.
The actress, 30, is indeed a longtime fan of Valentino and has embraced the fashion house’s designs for many years, including when she wed Adam Shulman last September.
“Though I love the dress I did wear, it was a difficult last minute decision as I had so looked forward to wearing Valentino in honor of the deep and meaningful relationship I have enjoyed with the house and with Valentino himself,” Hathaway continues.
“I deeply regret any disappointment caused.”
So there you have it. She’s apologized. And I heard that Amanda Seyfried was actually rocking a dress very similar to the Valentino that Anne planned to wear, so that’s why she had to pull the old switcheroo at the last minute.

I don’t think she issued ths because of reaction to her nips. I think it was because she embarrassed Valentino. He issued a statement before the Oscars saying she’d wear his design. I think that is why her apology mentions Valentino so frequently…it was for him.
Krissy, LOL. You’re definitely right. I just thought it was funny to hear her apologizing given the huge backlash over the dress.
I agree it is so odd to apologize over a dress, and I don’t think it was necessary to make a public apology. However, I see her relationship with Valentino as a bit of business…getting actresses to wear their designs while winning an Oscar is a huge deal for designers and their bottom line. I do think she owed Valentino an apology, but perhaps it should have been private?
The dress she was gong to wear was FAR SUPERIOR than the one she wore, so damn right apologize, Anne!
I’ve been feeling bad for Anne lately. I wasn’t aware she annoyed people so much. But see, here the thing with her: even when she comes across as annoying, I still think she’s being genuine. She’s just one of those people. I guess that what I’m trying to say is she’s genuinely annoying. LOL! That didn’t sound as good as I foresaw…um…gotta go!
She chose a ‘blah’ dress as a ‘last minute decision’… BUT.. Valentino designed its pointy peaks.. it’s his fault. (Like Anne could even fill it out, but I digress) If not Anne wearing it, it would have been Heidi. LOL Even “Valentino” isn’t immune from designing crap.
The pink dress she wore was Prada, not Valentino.
I think everyone would like her a lot more if she didn’t try so hard to get everyone to like her. This apology is silly. It was just a bad dress. It’s not like she got caught with a dog fighting ring.
