Since the beginning of the year last month we have been talking about how 2013 is shaping up to be a really great year for music and Trent Reznor has officially certified that 2013 will be THE best year for music in many, many years. Just when we were starting to calm down from the exciting news that Reznor‘s new band How to Destroy Angels will be touring some this year, he announces the RETURN OF NINE INCH NAILS!!! I must confess, I was aware that NIN would be coming together to play a concert later this year (and, for me, that was more than exciting enough) but I was not privy to the amazing news that the band is being reimagined, reformed and will be hitting the road for an EXTENSIVE tour that will span both 2013 and 2014. This is TRULY the best news to wake up to as we start this final week of February. NIN is BACK! Can you believe it?!
NOTE FROM TRENT:
Nine Inch Nails are touring this year.
I was working with Adrian Belew on some musical ideas, which led to some discussion on performing, which led to some beard-scratching, which (many steps later) led to the decision to re-think the idea of what Nine Inch Nails could be, and the idea of playing a show. Calls were made to some friends, lots of new ideas were discussed, and a show was booked – which led to another, which somehow led to a lot of shows.
The band is reinventing itself from scratch and will be comprised of Eric Avery, Adrian Belew, Alessandro Cortini, Josh Eustis, Ilan Rubin, and me. The first shows will begin this summer, followed by a full-on arena tour of the US this fall, and lots of other dates worldwide to follow through 2014.
Lots of details and dates to come. See you soon.
This is INSANE! I cannot even tell you how thrilled I am that NIN is back … and with a line-up that includes Eric Avery, Adrian Belew, Alessandro Cortini, Ilan Rubin and Josh Eustis?! OMG! I’m encouraged by news of this “extensive tour” because it means that I’ll get to see NIN again as many times as I like. BUT I’m worried by news of this “extensive tour” because it means that I’ll have to figure out just how many times I’d like to see the band … OMG! For me, this is the best news of 2013 yet … I can’t wait to learn more. TR doesn’t say a thing about new music but … c’mon, we’re gonna get new NIN music, right?! OMG! Nine Inch Nails is coming back … truly, my prayers have been answered!!!
