Last month we learned that the final Twilight film, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, managed to secure 11 nominations for the 2013 Golden Raspberry Awards … a nomination for every single available category. As you may know, the Razzies honor the worst of the worst in film and are handed out the night before the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences honors the best of the best in film on Oscar night. Last night, the Razzies were handed out here in LA (at the Holiday Inn Express on Hollywood Blvd.) and unsurprisingly, Breaking Dawn – Part 2 walked away with multiple awards … from Worst Actress (Kristen Stewart) to Worst Director (Bill Condon) to the big one, Worst Film. Breaking Dawn – Part 2 won 7 of their 11 nominations, proving once and for all that it was truly the worst film of the year … so, congrats?
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, Adam Sandler and Rihanna are among the “winners” of the 33rd annual Golden Raspberry Awards – the Razzies – which are not so much handed out as they are thrown at those who are voted as perpetrating Hollywood’s worst achievements of the year. Breaking Dawn – Part 2, the fifth and final installment in Stephenie Meyer’s vampire saga, was recognized in seven categories, including worst picture. The flick’s Kristen Stewart was also cited as worst actress; Taylor Lautner, worst supporting actor; Lautner and 12-year-old Mackenzie Foy, worst screen couple; the entire cast, including Robert Pattinson, worst screen ensemble, and Bill Condon, worst director. In addition, the film, which since opening last November has taken in more than $828 million at the box office, was named worst sequel.
Other films/actors walked away with the other awards handed out last night … including Rihanna for Worst Supporting Actress in Battleship and Adam Sandler for Worst Actor in That’s My Boy … a film which also won Worst Screenplay. Hahaha. As I understand it, That’s My Boy won Worst Screenplay over Breaking Dawn – Part 2 by one vote. LOL! And so, now we know which films sucked most this year … the countdown is on to find out which films are the best of the year when the Academy Awards are handed out later today.
