Yesterday we got to hear in full Mariah Carey‘s new song Almost Home, the first single from the soundtrack of the new film Oz the Great and Powerful. Today we get to check out a short preview of the forthcoming music video. As you can see below, the music video will feature footage from the film (as music videos from film soundtracks tend to do) but will also feature footage of Mimi doing her thang. Almost home is getting some mixed reviews … but most of the feedback is positive. I think everyone can agree that Mimi’s vocals are amazing as always but the song production leaves much to be desired for some. IMHO, the song sounds like something that Demi Lovato or Selena Gomez might record. I don’t mean that in a disparaging way, I just mean that the heavy-handed overproduction makes the song sound less like a Mariah Carey jam. As I mentioned yesterday, I’d love to hear a more stripped down, less-produced version of this song. The video looks like it’ll turn out cute, I can’t wait to see the video in full.
