Between that Blue Ivy photo and this news, we are officially having the best Saturday ever! A little while back we heard whisperings of a new Fox comedy series that would reportedly star our girl Sarah Michelle Gellar, and that sounded awesome. But it’s now been confirmed that SMG is actually starring in a pilot episode of a CBS single-camera comedy called Crazy Ones. And Robin friggen Williams will co-star, so yeah. I’m psyched! Click inside for more!
E! has the deets:
Robin Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar have been cast as father and daughter in Crazy Ones, a single-camera workplace sitcom being devloped for CBS, according to TVGuide.com.
And, better yet, it’s a David E. Kelley-produced workplace sitcom!
The Ally McBeal and Boston Legal creator (and master of workplace situation anything) is reportedly teaming with frequent producing partner Bill D’Elia and Arrested Development coexecutive producerDean Lorey on the pilot—the quality of which we are now holding out so much hope for.
Crazy Ones, which is set in an advertising agency (hmm, do we sense a play on Mad Men?), marks Williams’ first TV venture—give or take a handful of guest appearances—since Mork & Mindy, which signed off in 1982.
And consider us tickled to see Gellar headed back to the small screen after Ringer only lasted a single season on the CW.
OMG, I am so all about this show happening! I was just watching Good Will Hunting (for, like, the 12th time) earlier this week and had one of those ‘Robin Williams is the ish‘ moments. I can’t wait to see him play alongside SMG; I imagine they could have some pretty awesome father/daughter chemistry.
What do y’all think? Awesome news, right?

I’ve been saying she should do a comedy for a while now because clearly the “drama” route is not working for her.
This could be something that actually gets some ratings and gets SMG back on TV long-term! I haven’t heard David E. Kelly’s name in a while – so it’s good he is back, at least in the news, with two high-profile names for one of his new shows. Both Ally & Boston had terrific writers, the r.ships between the characters were terrific and always had people laughing.
This sounds like a recipe for something good. I really hope it is.
