Lady Gaga has been doing big things on her Born This Way Ball world tour, but it looks like it’s all coming to an end. I’d heard over the last few days that Gaga had cancelled a few tour dates due to illness, but now the full story is coming out and, apparently, Gaga recently suffered a severe hip injury which will require surgery. It’s bummer news, especially for Little Monsters the world over, but Lady Gaga is officially canceling the rest of her world tour. Click inside for deets.

People has the story:

It’s a somber week for Lady Gaga – and her Little Monsters.

Following Tuesday’s Facebook announcement that she was “devastated and sad” because she couldn’t walk and had to postpone several Born This Way Ball concerts, the pop star, 26, has officially canceled the remaining dates of her world tour.

“After additional tests this morning to review the severity of the issue, it has been determined that Lady Gaga has a labral tear of the right hip,” the singer’s rep told PEOPLE Wednesday in a statement. “She will need surgery to repair the problem, followed by strict down time to recover. This unfortunately, will force her to cancel the tour, so she can heal.”

Refunds for the cancelled performances will be available at point of purchase starting on Thursday.

“I hope you can forgive me, as it is nearly impossible for me to forgive myself,” she wrote the previous day of postponing the dates. “I hate this. I hate this so much. I love you and I’m sorry.”

That tear sounds crazy painful, so I’m sure Gaga‘s somewhere resting up. Whether you’re a fan or not, I don’t think you can deny Gaga‘s work ethic; I can imagine that it really pains her to have to cancel and disappoint so many fans. Here’s hoping she gets well soon! I, for one, am still desperate to see the rest of that Cake video!

  1. I heard somewhere she’s a wheelchair… awful. I hope she gets better. I know it wouldn’t be cancelled unless it really needed to be. So I’m at peace with it, even though I had to do some plan rearranging. (I had a ticket to her Nashville show.) All is well now. I’m just glad I hadn’t started working on my Born This Way ball “gown” yet. ;)
