Last month we learned which actors garnered Academy Award nominations for their films last year and I was BEYOND THRILLED that 9 year old Quvenzhané Wallis got nominated for her STUNNING work in Beasts of the Southern Wild. As Oscar night grows closer, the events leading up to the Academy Awards this year have gotten underway. Yesterday, in Beverly Hills, CA, the folks nominated for Academy Awards this year convened for the annual Oscar Luncheon and as you can see below, Quvenzhané was the CUTEST EVER! Miss Thang brought along a puppy purse to accessorize her outfit and, well, she just clearly stole the show.
It’s more puppy love for Quvenzhané Wallis! The 9-year-old star of Beasts of the Southern Wild hit the red carpet at Monday’s Oscar nominees luncheon in Beverly Hills with another one of her pet purses on hand. “That’s my signature,” she told Ellen DeGeneres during a January visit to her talk show, where Wallis admitted owning close to 20 of the doggy accessory, designed by Poochie & Co. For Monday’s event, the starlet – who is the youngest-ever Best Actress nominee – opted for complementary colors, pairing her purple dress with a hot pink purse that matched her ballet flats. Wonder which lucky mutt will make the cut on Oscar night. The 85th annual Academy Awards will air live on Sunday, Feb. 24, on ABC from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
GAHHH! I love this little girl so much. I am REALLY pulling for her to win the Best Actress Academy Award this year because she absolutely blew me away with her performance in Beasts. Man, I get chills thinking about that movie. I hope she is having fun with all this Oscar stuff. While I’m certain she understands on some level what this means for her professionally, as a little girl I hope she is being taken care of so that she can have fun with this larger than life experience. I can’t wait to see which of her Puppy Purses she’ll bring to the Academy Awards. I just hope it’s big enough for her to carry her Oscar home that night.
