Yesterday was a very long day for me … after I spent 95% of my time sitting in traffic on the way to and back from Hunting Beach, I met up with Steph, Alek and Darion for dinner and a movie (Warm Bodies) in Century City. I’m running the Suft City Half Marathon in Huntington Beach, CA tomorrow morning but I had to drive all the way down there yesterday to pick up my race materials. While the traffic was frustrating, I did have a nice short visit to the beach. Dinner last night left much to be desired (the food wasn’t all that good) but the movie was fun … mostly :) Thankfully the company more than made up for the day’s frustrations :D

Warm Bodies is a very cute, mostly fun movie. The story of a zombie boy who falls in love with a living girl is as clever as it sounds … the only problem is that the overall joke wears thin after a while and the rest of the plot takes center stage. When the rest of the plot is kind of weak, it hurts the overall story. Still, I LOVED Nicholas Hoult as the zombie and his blonde Kristen Stewart look-alike was just ok. There are a lot of laughs in Warm Bodies but they don’t stick around for the end of the movie. Once charm of the joke wears off, you’re pretty much ready for the movie to be over. With a runtime of about an hour and a half, I think the movie satisfies as a decent, humorous zom-com.

As I mentioned, I spent most of my day driving down to Hunting Beach to pick up my race materials for tomorrow’s Surf City Half Marathon. It’s my first race since the Disney World Marathon a few weeks ago and, I’m afraid to admit, my first run since as well. I’m pretty sure I’ll be ok for tomorrow’s run but, I’ve been so frazzled … and then lazy … that my training schedule has just died. At this point, my races are my training so … here’s to a good run tomorrow!
I hope.
Happy Saturday.

aww I was looking forward to seeing it, but maybe I’ll wait until it’s out on DVD
I’m yet to see Warm Bodies, but I love the book so so much! I’m half-expecting for the movie to be a water down version of the book (judging by the trailer), but I hope that its spirit is still there.
Do you like Warm Bodies? Listen to this music:
