Take Shelter was one of the most critically-acclaimed independent movies of 2011, and I’m so glad the director has a new movie coming out– I officially have to see Take Shelter, lol. Jeff Nichols is now working with some big names (although it must be said that he helped put Jessica Chastain on the map) with Mud, a gritty-looking drama starring Matthew McConaughey and Reese Witherspoon. The trailer’s just been released and, y’all know I love a good indie drama; I’m definitely interested in checking this one out. Sam Shepard, Michael Shannon, and Ty Sheridan (The Tree Of Life) are also in the flick, so I think we can expect good things. Peep the trailer for more!

Mr. Mconaughey has been on a hot streak lately. He started out well with A Time To Kill, then he veered off into lightweight romantic comedies. Then we didn’t hear from him for a while. Then this!
Magic Mike, Bernie, The Paper Boy, Killer Joe, and he got super skinny to play an AIDS victim for the Dallas Buyer’ Club, and now Mud. The guy’s been polishing his dramatic chops. He got shut out of the Oscars this time, but I hope he keeps this up because I think he is a great actor who deserves to be recognized.
