First Listen: Justin Timberlake Drops A NEW Song Titled ‘Suit & Tie (Featuring Jay-Z)’

Just a few days ago we learned officially from Justin Timberlake himself that he is about to release some new music … late tonight, he did just that. JT has teamed up with Jay-Z (as rumored) and dropped a NEW SONG titled Suit & Tie. The song is available for purchase on iTunes HERE but you can click above to preview the song in full (for as long as the embed stays online on You Tube). It starts out kinda … weird … with an slowed down, odd intro … but once the song kicks in, it’s actually a decent jam. Justin Timberlake is back, y’all. Are you ready?

UPDATE: Justin is also confirming the forthcoming release of a new album titled The 20/20 Experience due out later this year in an open letter he penned to fans, click below to read the full text of this open letter/announcement.

An Open Letter to you (the fans):

I hope this gets to you the right way. It’s the only way I know to do it. Some people may criticize me for the last 3 days. But it was fun, right?? Right?!?! Besides, I’d rather speak directly to all of you. And, who can knock me for having a little bit of fun with it?

Well… No more teasing. Although, it was A LOT of fun. (Did I mention that I’m having fun with this?? Ha!)

*Makes a serious face*

So, here goes:

This year is an exciting one for me. As you probably have heard through the “grapevine,” I’m gearing up for a big 2013.

Back in June of last year, I quietly started working on what is now, my next journey with that thing I love called MUSIC.

The inspiration for this really came out of the blue and to be honest, I didn’t expect anything out of it. I just went into the studio and started playing around with some sounds and songs. It was probably the best time I’ve had in my career… Just creating with no rules and/or end goal in mind and really enjoying the process.

What I came up with is something I couldn’t be more excited about! It is full of inspiration that I grew up listening to and some newfound muses that I’ve discovered along the way.

I’m calling it “The 20/20 Experience,” and it’s coming out this year.

I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it.

That’s all I’m giving you for now… I know, I know! Again, with the teasing!!!

Get ready. This is going to be fun (well, at least it is for me).

Thoughts …?

im not feeling the first 40 seconds…but after that..i love it. such a chill song – and oddly i even like the Jay Z feature. i wasnt too worried about the song..JT wouldn’t release a song unless he knew it was going to be good. hopefully this is a sign that the ‘swag’ era is dying *fingers crossed*. but i will say this…the song made me want a JT & Robin Thicke collab..

  • nicole

also Trent – if your link dies..its up on JTs official youtube page. :)

  • swifty_fan

I’m undecided on the song. Maybe after I listen to it a few times. I’m kind of feeling a Robin Thicke vibe.

  • Shannon

Love the opening and love the end. Jay-Z had his ‘American Gangster’ flow. Very fun :)

Its okay, but I think he needs to realize that he needs to appeal to the new audience as their are people who were kids when he last released music that are now 16-18 who he may want to gain as fans. Im not saying he should have released the typical EDM dubstep track, but something more upbeat and catchy that people could play at a party and not get a jazz bar vibe from…idk, It just sounds a little dated and hope that this is not how the entire album feel is.

Yeah….this is kinda weak. But i will see if it grows on me….

I liked it alright on the first listen. I’ve listened to it on repeat now, and I’m definitely feeling this song. I think it will really grow on people. JT is back and I can’t wait to hear more from him!

  • rOXy

Old Skool JT style! I like the R&B vibe. It’s different than what most people expected, I think. Smooooooth.

  • Drew

It all feels a bit pointless.

  • I’m loving it! I’m a huge JT fan and was scared that it would suck, but I’m soo excited for this.. It feels grown and definetly got some good old school vibes off it. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the album is going to be like..

  • cutitout

Its a grower. I like the breezy flow but I hate his tone on the verses, I fee like he should have went a bit lower and deeper. The vocals come off as a bit shallow like its a demo or like its only one layer of a multi layered vocal. #1 song though.

I like that it’s not what everyone else is doing. It’s Justin. The way I would describe it would be like Marvin Gaye meets Frank Sinatra in the 21st century. Not saying that they would sing a song like this but I feel like his vocals remind me of Marvin but the instrumentation is all Frank. I know that sounds strange but I think it’s cool how Justin can do something that most people wouldn’t put together usually.

  • Dezden

The beginning was weird to me last night, but it has grown on me today (I listened more times than I could even count.)… I only listened once last night and I woke up with it in my head this morning!!! An earworm for sure. I like it. I’m excited about the project, and it’s typical Justin to leave us hanging and not give too many details.

  • Nikki

This sounds like a filler song, not really a lead single from an album, like I remember the first time I heard Sexyback. I’ve listened to it a few times and I find I hate it with every listen.

Sidenote: Has his voice always been that annoying?

  • Lynne

I’m so feeling it! I mean it’s not that great, but I’m just so excited to hear new music from him. It’s so his style, so I get it. I heard the song driving home today and that was another moment I had wished I had tinted windows! lol A little too giddy.

  • cupcakes in my pocket

lots of people bummed on him….

    i will always love justin…

  • blaqfury

dangit! I missed it, Youtube already pulled it… guess i gotta wait til it’s released to the masses

    • @blaqfury — The video has been fixed, enjoy :D

    • blaqfury

Thanks! It seems to have a Robin Thicke vibe to it. It’s pretty all right. I expect the more I hear it, I will like it more and more.

  • Colleen

Maybe it’s because I’ve been listening to a lot of classic R&B and Soul as of late, but I love the new track from JT. He can’t do much wrong in my eyes. Although saying that, I do prefer the uptempo bits. It reminds me of futuresex lovesounds when he has the whole album blend together. I imagine it’ll make more sense when the album comes out, which I can not wait for!

  • the_geenee

    I want to like it…
