Back in 2011 the world was blessed by the news that Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Sarah Michelle Gellar was making her return to TV in a new series titled Ringer. Unfortunately, the show didn’t last more than one season but the hope was alive that she would return to TV again. Since her stint on Ringer came to an end, you may recall, SMG reprised her role in All My Children for one episode before the daytime drama ended its series run … and she also gave birth to a second child, a baby boy named Rocky James. Now that all of that is settled, we are hearing that SMG is ready to come back to work … and will likely star in a new series on Fox this Fall :D
Sarah Michelle Gellar may be back on the small screen next fall as the star of a new half-hour comedy, TVLine has learned exclusively. The potential (and currently untitled) series, which is being developed at 20th Century Fox TV (home of Buffy the Vampire Slayer), chronicles the hijinks parents get into while their kids are not at home. Gellar would play the wife/mother … The project will be shopped to the major networks in the coming weeks. David Hemingson (How I Met Your Mother, Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23) and Margaret Riley (Love and Other Drugs) are attached as exec producers. A 20th rep declined to comment for this story.
Yes, yes, yes … please gods, yes! Let this be! I loved Ringer, loved every second of it … I want to see SMG back on the small screen. I was reminded of SMG’s acting work in film (I caught her terrrrible horror film The Grudge on cable last week) and was also reminded that her strengths are best served on TV. I’m keeping my fingers and toes crossed for this news to be true. I need more SMG on TV.
