‘The Voice’ Releases Promo Images Of New Judges Shakira & Usher

Last month we got to see a new promo video for the forthcoming 4th season of The Voice that introduces new judges Shakira and Usher Raymond. Today we not only get to see 2 new promo images of Shakira and Usher in their new Voice chairs but we also get to read excerpts from a new interview chronicled by Billboard magazine. The new judges and original judges Adam Levine and Blake Shelton talk shop and let fans know what they have in store for the upcoming new season of the show.

The dust has barely settled on Cassadee Pope’s big win on “The Voice” last month, but with big changes in store for the show’s fourth season — most notably the addition of two new coaches — it’s never too early to look ahead. Billboard recently attended a press conference with those newbies, Usher and Shakira, as well as mainstays Blake Shelton and Adam Levine. Shelton noted that with the departure of Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green, the dynamic has “definitely changed” and that throwing Usher and Shakira into the mix has fostered an added competitiveness to the NBC show, which comes back on March 25 … Added Levine, “Now you have a pregnant, hormonal Colombian. She’s ready to bust some heads. She ain’t messing around!” Skakira admits that recruiting for her “Voice” team has certainly lit the competitive fire in her. “Once we are in the process of trying to get a contestant recruited for our team, there’s a lot of adrenaline and there’s a lot of tension.” She also mentioned her tendency to micro manage her career, which she says carries over to her mentoring. “When I’m giving directions to my contestants, I’m particularly focused on details.” Usher described Shakira as a mix of “comic relief, super f-cking serious, and gangster,” explaining that “she’s so nice now but she really pulls out that switchblade in the battle.” He also revealed that his own coaching style is fairly serious. “My style is more military than anything because I’m all about the preparation. My style is to make them understand the seriousness of the craft and that they have the very best opportunity to be the greatest — or the worst — depending on how you take it.” Levine explained that Season 4’s new coaches have already figured out how to leverage their strengths. Shakira plays the female card a lot — “That’s one thing we can’t compete with really so she’s smart” – and Usher likes to remind his fellow coaches of his success with Justin Bieber. “As much as I hate to say this about another coach in the beginning, Usher has done what this show has yet to do – launch a superstar and that’s our goal. That’s something we want to do as an institution.”

Of all the competitive singing shows, The Voice is the least interesting to me. I had to admit it but I’m really only drawn to watch these things by the celebrity talent. I never watched a single episode of The X Factor until they signed Britney Spears on board as a judge (which forced me to watch every single episode last season). I long ago gave up caring about American Idol but … I’ll deffo watch for Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj. I like Shakira and I don’t mind Usher … but I don’t really care enough about either of them to tune into The Voice. Still, I’m sure the show will do very well with the two of them on board as judges/mentors … I mean, right? Do any of y’all watch The Voice? Are you excited for the new season?

I love the Voice :D The chemistry between the four original judges can’t be replaced, but I’m excited to see how the new season goes!

I plan on watching, mostly cause of Usher! Use to be a mega fan, but I grew up and now am just a fan…lol! I think the voice is a good show anyways… I’m sure shakira and usher will gel well with adam and blake.

I’m soooo excited!! I don’t consider myself a big Shakira fan, however, I got to see her before the big crossover and global success and she happens to be a real musician, not just a good hip shaker. She actually used to be more of a rocker and played the guitar and harmonica so I’m actually really curious on the influence she will have as a mentor. I’m sure a lot of people will be surprised to realize she can do more than shimmy!!

Well it will take me some time to get used to a woman sitting in one of those chairs whose boobs are not in danger of falling out with every movement… or just a woman who doesn’t look like a clown. It was the biggest distraction on the show and I’m glad they picked a beautiful and class lady like Shakira so that the focus can, once again, be on the contestants
