When Frank Ocean recorded the song Pink Matter for his outstanding album Channel Orange, he originally wanted both members of Outkast to appear on the track. Unfortunatly, Big Boi (real name Antwan André Patton) did not want a new “Outkast song” to appear on someone else’s record … so André 300 (real name André Lauren Benjamin) recorded the song with Frank all by himself. It looks like Big Boi had a big change of heart (or maybe he’s just a little bit upset that he missed out on appearing on one of the best albums of 2012) because he has decided to record a verse for a Pink Matter remix that will be released soon … and will be the first song in about 6 years that will feature both members of Outkast.
Frank Ocean originally wanted both Big Boi and André 3000 to appear on Channel Orange’s “Pink Matter”; however, 3000 decided to do it solo because, as Big Boi tweeted,”[He] didn’t want an Outkast Record Coming out on anybody else LP.” So it’s exciting that Big Boi wrote on his Tumblr that he’ll be adding his own verse to a new version of the track. Set to be released sometime next week, this will be the first time in almost six years the two will appear together on one song. The second time, apparently based on this tweet, will be a remix of T.I.’s “Sorry.” Time to start asking them about a reunion only to have them say “no” again.
Damn, this is great news! I have to say, I was kinda annoyed with Big Boi when I first heard he was originally intended for the song but he chose not to record it, IMHO, cuz he was being a brat. I’m so happy to learn that he got over his bad self and decided to come thru for the fans. I am really looking forward to the release of the Pink Matter remix featuring OUTKAST! I hope it’s just … stank. Best news ever!!
