Party Like It’s 1995

After a fairly quiet New Year’s Eve, I went ahead and enjoyed a fairly quiet New Year’s Day. In year’s past, NYD was usually spent recuperating on the couch from the night before’s revelry … this year, I was just being lazy. I spent the afternoon watching 3 of my all time favorite movies from 1995-96 and, to be honest, it was the perfect way to ring in the new year. Few films make me as happy as Clueless, Empire Records and The Craft do so I decided to make those films my first of 2013.

1995 was a very good year for me. I mean, I didn’t know it at the time but looking back, it was one of the best years of my life. I was young and everything was new … I was living on my own for the first time. Good times. I always love watching these movies because they remind me of those good ol’ days. I catch myself getting struck in the chest with memories of that time in my life and while scary sometimes to realize how much time has passed, I’m always able to look back with fondness. Altho there are countless other “important” films out there, I will always regard these 3 movies as my fave of all time. They’re silly, they’re fun and they are an excellent time capsule of a very happy time in my life. It’s no wonder I love going back and reliving that time as much as possible.

Today should be another quiet one. I have a few things to take care of but I’m going to take advantage of the downtime while I can. I have races coming up and trip to Florida next week (!!!) so, I’mma relax as much as I can while I can. I hope your 2013 is coming along nicely! Happy Wednesday!

I was going to put a quote from Clueless, and more so Empire Records but I can’t just pick one. Empire Records is amazing, as is Rex Manning day.

Empire Records was on TV a few weeks ago and someone had the gall to rate it 1 star on the cable info box. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!? Only one of the BEST movies, just after Clueless. Good choices Trent!
“Cher, she is toe up. Our stock would plummet.” “Dee, don’t you want to use your popularity for something good?” “No.”
“What’s up with you today Lucas?” “What’s up with today, today?”
