Yesterday was a pretty tame Valentine’s Day for David and me … particularly because we spent most of our day in an airplane … but because we were together, it was really fantastic day. On our flight from LA to NYC, David worked while I listened to music (all Whitney Houston) and read (the new book The Wolf Gift by Anne Rice) so it was a mostly productive trip. We got in a bit late but got to spend a bit of time with David’s sister Eden. It’s a bit rainy here in NY but it’s not too cold, thankfully. It’s the perfect pit stop on our way to Amsterdam tomorrow :)

For the past few weeks, David has been really bizzy with work and we haven’t had a lot of time to spend alone … which, I realize, is what many couples have to endure on a day to day basis. David and I have been spoiled with all of the time we’ve been able to enjoy together in the past couple of years. But, considering we spent the first 3 years of our relationship flying back and forth between NYC and LA, well, I think we were due. So, yeah, getting to spend all day with him yesterday (albeit in a plane) was a very nice Valentine’s Day gift. I had to take a break from reading my Walt Disney bio so I could read Anne Rice‘s new book. She is one of my favorite authors and I am really excited that she is returning to her classic supernatural themes in The Wolf Gift. She’s already expertly written about vampires, witches, ghosts and at least one Mummy … it’s about time she took on the subject of werewolves. I’m already a few chapters into the book and I am HOOKED!
But I won’t have any time to read tonight … cuz I’ve got a date with Björk!

You may recall that I blogged a few weeks ago that Björk is performing a string of shows here in NYC thruout the month of February … tonight is my chance to see one of those shows … and I am SO excited! Tonight’s concert will take place at the New York Hall of Science … which sounds just amazingly cool. I hope your Wednesday is a fun one … Happy Hump Day, y’all!

Um…the term “VD” can also mean something other than Valentine’s Day. The headline made me laugh a little bit. ;)
OMG, I saw Anne Rice in Toronto on Monday and had The Wolf Gift signed. I found myself completely entranced by everything she said during the interview and just in awe of seeing one of my absolute favourite authors in person. Quite a humbling experience.
The book is so addictive! I keep trying to read it slowly so I have have it longer but it’s not happening. It’s definitely her triumphant return to Gothic Literature.
Peace, love and chocolate chip cookie dough!
