Whitney Houston Is Back On Screen With Her Biggest Fan, Jordin Sparks
It's Been More Than 15 Years

It has been over a decade since the diva, Whitney Houston, has been in a big movie but she is returning to the screen in the upcoming film, Sparkle, with one of her biggest devotees, Jordin Sparks. Read on to find out what Jordin said it was like working with her idol, Ms Houston…

Since winning the American Idol crown, this will be Jordin’s first movie. Sparkle is remake of a movie from the 70s that follows a group of singing sisters once they make it.It originally starred Lonette McKee and Irene Cara.

“Part of the fun of making this movie is definitely the costumes and the hairstyles,” says [the star]…The movie is set in 1963, and we had a great wardrobe, hair and makeup person and I loved wearing the outfits.”

The movie sounds fun and I’m sure it will have lots of awesome ballad singing, but I guess we will have to wait and see whether Jordin does well with the whole acting caper, just because she has a stellar voice doesn’t mean she will be a great actress. Although it does seem well cast, as it is a singer-acting role and Jordin does remind me of a younger Whitney.

I gather that this was surreal for Jordin and the role of a lifetime, regardless of how the movie does, because she was able to work with her own idol since she was a little girl.

“She was so cool and very motherly toward me…If I ever looked like I needed something, here she came saying ‘Are you okay? I sang her songs into a hairbrush when I was little,” says Sparks. “Now she’s acting as my mom and scolding me. It was a dream come true.”

The movie will be out this summer, August 10th. Guess we will have to wait and see how it all pans out… What is your prediction of Whitney and Jordin as mother and daughter?

The pic is of Whitney at the 2011 Grammy’s and she does look every bit the glam diva she used to be… maybe she is back??

‘Sparkle’ sounds too much like ‘glitter’ to me.
