In 1986 we first saw the now classic movie, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. With Super Bowl just around the corner (and the amazing half time performance from Madonna) the hype is building to the major sport event. Today we got to see a TEASER for a Super Bowl ad featuring Matthew Broderick as what appears to be the 18 year old, Ferris Bueller. The teaser is just a few seconds though… do you think this is what it is hinting at?
It is my husband’s FAVORITE movie, possibly of all time…I get the iconic status of Ferris Bueller, but personally it doesn’t get me all revved up like it does for my hubby. Still, seeing the 44 year old Matthew Broderick bring Ferris back to life, all these decades later.. now, this is something worth writing home about.
A few days ago we saw a reviving of David Wooderson, now this. In the upcoming ad, it looks like Broderick is bringing the 18 year old Ferris back to life… will he take the day off from work or school? What does this have to do with Super Bowl? Guess we will have to wait and see…

Man..Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is a movie I can catch at any point and will just sit and watch until the end..I just love it..Not my fave of all time, but just a great solid movie! I love Matthew Broderick so I hope this is a fun little ad! Especially because, let’s face it, the ads are the only reason I care about this stupid football game.. ;)
It’s not exactly subtle when he is paraphrasing from the movie and the theme “song” is the same.
Wow, this is awesome. I love that movie. Thank you Melissa for bringing this to our attention! I love Trent, but not sure he would ever have picked up on Superbowl coverage. You are truly a fantastic addition to this blog
My money is on an ad for a hotel chain…but anytime you can revisit Ferris Bueller – it’s a good day!
Sounds like a commercial for the NY Tourism Board to me.
I will be seriously impressed if the company behind this isn’t revealed before the Superbowl.
Love this. How wonderful would an “adult” Ferris Bueller movie be? I, too, have no idea how this is connected to the SuperBowl…. But still love this.
“Oh, I’m sorry. I can’t come to the door right now. I’m afraid that in my weakened condition, I could take a nasty spill down the stairs and subject myself to further school absences. You can reach my parents at their places of business. Thank you for stopping by. I appreciate your concern for my well-being. Have a nice day!” I love that movie!
