Last night ABC News aired the third and final segment of their interview with Madonna on the news program 20/20 last night and altho the bulk of the interview was focused on Maddy‘s directorial debut film W.E. (due out in theaters early next month), we did get a TASTE of some of her brand new music. The ABC cameras were allowed inside Madonna‘s recording studio (with producer Martin Solveig by her side) while she was working with M.I.A. on a new song (reportedly titled Birthday Song). This clip gives us a longer view of Madonna in the recording studio rather than the much shorter clip that aired on 20/20 last night. Altho we get to see more M.I.A. than Madonna, it’s still very cool. I’m not sure what I think about this song but we are only hearing a tiny portion. It deffo has that M.I.A. feel about it … which I LOVE for an M.I.A. song but I’m not sure how I feel about it as a Madonna song. IMHO, the songs that M.I.A. wrote for Christina Aguilera on her album Bionic just didn’t work for Xtina. They were great M.I.A. songs but, for me, they just didn’t work as Xtina songs. We’ll have to wait and see how this turns out for Madonna but … well, it’s early still.

While I feel this final interview segment is the weakest of the 3, I think the entire ABC interview when taken in full is quite excellent. Madonna gives us a lot of information … more than enough to please fans. That being said, I feel her interview on The Graham Norton Show (which you can watch in full HERE) is by far the best interview she’s given in a few years.
