Last night was a very bizzy night for me … from Beverly Hills to downtown LA, I spent part of my evening hanging with a bunch of different friends on opposite sides of town. First, David and I met up with our new friends Gray and Jeff at the Gagosian Gallery in Beverly Hills for the Damien Hirst: The Complete Spot Paintings 1986-2011 exhibit and then I jetted downtown to meet up with Ollie and Caleb for dinner before Irene and I went to see M83 in concert. It was a very bizzy but extremely fun night.

The Damien Hirst exhibit was interesting in that I enjoyed seeing so many different spot paintings all on display in the same space. While I’m not a big fan of the spot paintings individually (particularly because they all look like the roll of wrapping paper I have currently in my closet) but this exhibit showcasing the various incarnations of his spot work is really bold and striking. I just love hanging out with Jeff and Gray. They are such a great couple, David and I always have such a good time hanging out with them.

After the exhibit, I jetted downtown to enjoy a delish Shabu Shabu dinner with Irene, Ollie and Caleb:

The food was good but the company was THE best. We always have fun when we get to hang out. Our usual meal of choice to enjoy together is Sunday brunch but we can make the good times happen during any meal ;)

After dinner, Irene and I made our way over to Club Nokia to see M83 in concert:

As you may recall, I saw M83 in concert back in November and I really enjoyed that show immensely. This show was good … but the venue was really packed and the sound — as usual — was horrendous. M83 puts on a great live show and I really love hearing their music live. While I may have enjoyed the last M83 show a bit better, I had much better company this time around with my dear Irene. She is home in LA for the next 3 months so hopefully I’ll get to spend more time with her before she has to go back to NYC.

Tonight, David and I are planning on dinner with our friend and new mom Gillian. Here we are … the weekend again … the SECOND weekend into 2012 — ALREADY! OY! Happy Friday!!
