Scholastic Announces The Release Of Movie Tie-In Books For ‘The Hunger Games’
Books Based on a Film Based on a Book

People, we are just WEEKS away from the theatrical release of the big screen adaptation of The Hunger Games and to prepare us for the film’s premiere, Scholastic Publishing is releasing a series of movie-tie in books ahead of the film’s release. Because this film is based on a series of hugely successful books, Scholastic wants to remind fans (and newcomers to the story) that The Hunger Games is a BOOK first and a movie second. Click below to see the coverart for the forthcoming titles The World of Hunger Games, The Hunger Games Tribute Guide and The Hunger Games: Official Illustrated Movie Companion.

Fans who are hungry for info on the Hunger Games movie should be thoroughly satisfied by the time this final tie-in book — The World of the Hunger Games — is published on Mar. 23. We already revealed the covers for three earlier releases: The Hunger Games: Official Illustrated Movie Companion, The Hunger Games: Movie Tie-in Edition, and The Hunger Games Tribute Guide. This final offering promises to be the “definitive, full-color guide to Panem” with photographs from the movie, complete with a glossary and new quotes from Suzanne Collins. It will also outline the major players, participants, and perils of the Games (injuries, fires, muttations, etc.) and provide a visual tour of Katniss’ life and home. It looks like the cover is pretty much identical to the poster at the center of Hunger Games puzzle contest that created an online frenzy last month.

OMG, YAY … this is very exciting news. You might be surprised to learn this but even tho I am a huge collector of memorabilia, I normally bristle at the first mention of movie tie-in items. I tends to feel cheap to me when products are offered for sale to promote the release of films (that said, I will admit that I do sometimes succumb to the marketing and I sometimes buy some of those movie tie-in products) … but when it comes to books being offered for sale, I am all for it. ANYTHING that gets kids to read is A-OK in my book. Despite the fact that I personally feel that the Twilight Saga book series is horribly written, I do love that the book series continues to inspire kids (and adults) to read. A person can never own too many books, in my opinion. I am really looking forward to the release of these books because I am DYING to get a better look at the film version of The Hunger Games. We may have many weeks left until the theatrical release of The Hunger Games, but the early February release of these books will give us an early taste of one of this year’s most anticipated films ;)
