Madonna Wins The Golden Globe Award For ‘Best Original Song’
In Celebration, She Spills New Deets About Her Album 'M.D.N.A.'

Popstar Madonna, who spent all last week promoting her new film W.E. and her new album M.D.N.A. in interviews both here in the US (on ABC News) and in the UK (on The Graham Norton Show), was in attendance at the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards last night. Maddy was nominated for Best Original Song for her ballad Masterpiece (from her directorial debut film W.E.). Altho Elton John bitchily commented before the show that Madonna didn’t have “a fucking chance” at winning, Madonna DID win the award … over Elton John … who lost. After Elton‘s loss, his hubby David Furnish had bitchy things of his own to say … on Facebook. LOL! In the press room, Madonna (with Golden Globe in hand) was asked a host of questions … including questions pertaining to her upcoming new album. Click below to hear what she had to say about M.D.N.A.

Well I did a good majority of the record with Martin Solveig, who is a DJ/producer. I love his sound, it’s really fresh. It doesn’t sound like anybody else’s. He’s brilliantly talented. Happy, I would say his music is happy. It puts a smile on your face and I hope my record does that too. I collaborated again with William Orbit who tends to make me more introspective and a bit… I don’t know… His songs tend to be… I don’t want to say dark, but more thoughtful and introspective. It’s a good combination of the light and the dark. Oh yes, lots of dancing, cheerleading, football players… you name it!

The whole 8 minute video is really worth watching … it’s fun to see Madonna react to the questions asked of her on the spot. I’ll bet any money that she did not expect to the the award last night … obvs, neither did Elton John. I mean, here’s the thing … yes, there can be friendly rivalry among celebs. Yes, I get that Elton may truly hate Madonna. But for him to go on the record and boldly claim that Madonna had no “fucking chance” at winning and then have her win … well, it’s just too delicious not to make fun of. Here is a photo of Elton John‘s reaction when Madonna was named the winner (over him) of the Golden Globe award for Best Original Song:

Clearly Elton‘s husband David Furnish was still seething after Madonna‘s win … hence, his sad and truly pathetic Facebook rant:

Elton John’s husband David Furnish LASHED OUT at Madonna following her victory speech at the Golden Globes last night … saying it was “embarrassing in it’s narcissism.” Moments after Madge won the statue for Best Original Song, Furnish went to his Facebook page and WENT OFF … writing, “Madonna. Best song???? Fuck off!!!” For the record — Elton was nominated in the same category and seemed pissed off in the crowd when Madonna’s name was read. But David continued on Facebook … writing, “Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit. Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in it’s narcissism. And her critisism of Gaga shows how desperate she really is.” Elton seemed particularly bitter towards Madonna BEFORE the awards … telling one reporter on the red carpet he believed Madge had no “fuckin’ chance” of emerging victorious.

LMAOOOOOOO! I mean, I really can’t with these bitter queens. And what really kills me is that no one will really make much of a fuss over Elton and David‘s bitter bitching. Madonna can say that Lady Gaga‘s song Born This Way is “reductive” of her original song Express Yourself and people will rant that Madonna is a bitch. But I have no doubt that the same fuss will not be made over Elton and David‘s sad rants which, IMHO, are far bitchier. BUT … no matter … Madonna has weathered worse controversies than this and she still reigns as the true Queen of Pop — WITH a shiny new trophy … much to poor Elton John‘s dismay.

Congrats Madonna! This Golden Globe win is the PERFECT way for your year of 2012 Reign to officially get underway.

    go on Mama!!!

SIT DOWN ELTON. (and shush up David!)
Madonna you can be as narcissictic as you wanna be!!!

  2. Lisbeth Slander says:

The look on his face was priceless.

  3. Whitney says:

Elton needs to get over himself. He has talked crap about M. for years and she basically takes the high road and just ignores him. Sorry, but Born this Way WAS reductive and derivative of Express Yourself.

  4. Mariah says:

I swear that I thought Elton’s comments last night during the red carpet interviews on Madonna winning the award were strictly for fun. I didn’t know that these two really hated each other. Wow! What fighting words! Regardless, good for Madonna. She won the award fair and square, and her acceptance speech sounded as if she was grateful, not narcissistic.

  5. Dezden Dezden says:

    HAHA! Wow.

  6. DJ says:

David Furnish says “these awards have nothing to do with merit.” So i guess he’s also dissing George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Octavia Spencer, Christopher Plummer, Michele Williams, Jean Dujardin, Martin Scorsese, Woody Allen, and everyone who worked on The Artist and The Descendants cuz clearly, they did not win on merit.

    What a douche!

    • ChristineLA says:

Exactly. Let’s be honest, if the awards have nothing to do with merit, Jean Dujardin would NOT have won, as he is not a Hollywood A-lister.

  7. CHASE says:

It’s ridiculous, really. And the reason why they’re so pressed is because their baby’s Godmother is Lady GaGa, so they feel extra threatened. Uh, whatever.

  8. kendra kendra says:

I don’t think her song was that great, tbh..And her speech WAS awful..She’s so into herself! And stop with the fake accent, lady!! Oi..But Elton John was stupid to say something like that..It’s so childish..

    • ChristineLA says:

Speaking of accents (and going off topic), what the hell was going on with Johnny Depp? He started out with a Scottish accent, and ended in his normal voice. It was very strange.

    • Anno says:

That speech was a bit much, even for people who LIKE Madonna. And Elton should know better – never say never. His sour-puss antics were as off-putting as Madge’s obnoxious speech.

      • kendra kendra says:

@ChristineLA – I just heard Captain Sparrow the whole time..One of these days, he’s just going to go full out and become him full time..And I’ll still want to bone him.. ;)

  9. SASHA says:

and you would think elton john with all his money can get a better wig……..sore loser…long live the real queen madonna

  10. Ummm says:

Madonna totally deserved her win! Good on her…. What a terrific way to usher in her new era!!!!! Can’t wait for the new album!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. DT says:

I say ‘meh’ to all three of them.

  12. I´m Madonna fan since 1984 and she always made me proud for her in every step she made during her career. So, Masterpiece is a lovely song. Far from being the best song ever she wrote but it complete all the kindness of her movie W.E. Congratulations Madonna for always touching my heart like no one else did before. Love, Emerson

  13. bedtimeboy says:

She totally deserved the award. Masterpiece is amazing. And she looked like a superstar. Gorgeous!!!!

  14. MM says:

    Team Madonna!

  15. JCZ says:

Elton is a legend no doubt and talented but he isn’t THAT popular anymore. With the oldies, yes. Someone like Madonna can still interact with the young with her music.

So Elton saw this Gaga person being “inspired” by music from the 80s and also a fan of his. So he jumps on the bandwagon to get popular again amongst the youth. Smart… Yes! But also quite lame with the way they’re acting now. Godmother crap, defending her on FB etc…

Gaga ripped OFF Madonna there is no denying that. Case settled. I’m not a fan of Gaga nor a great fan of Madonna either. And I’m the first to admit the Globes are very “Beyonceish” (a term used when you can pay your way to win awards or use your daddy to get them for you). Elton needs to grow up I say… And to mention a ‘fued’ that Gaga fans started is quite sad also for a celebrity to get involved in.

Madonna has taken quite a mature approach to the Born This Way debacle. She made a little dig the other day – but it wasn’t so much as trashing Gaga which she could rightfully do as well!
Elton should look between his legs and start acting less like a little bitch.

  16. Sprinkles says:

Her speech seriously made me want to vomit.

  17. Simon. says:

I seriously believe Elton and David are giving us gays a bad name. I mean, they are completely perpetuating the typical stereotype of old catty and bitchy queens. It’s disgusting that people their age can behave like that.

Paradoxically, people keep saying Madonna is a bitch and an egomaniac — even after her humble response and taking the high road. Crazy.

    • Trent Trent says:

@Simon. — “I seriously believe Elton and David are giving us gays a bad name.” Not me … because I don’t for one second see Elton and David and representative of “gays”. They are great spokespeople for “jerks” but I don’t view them as gay role models, not in the least.
