Legend, Gene Hackman was hit by a car yesterday while riding his bicycle in the Florida Keys. Apparently Gene was was riding without a helmet on when a pickup hit him, throwing him onto the grassy side of the street. It was serious because he had to be airlifted to a trauma center… Oh no!!!
Gene has had a career that has spanned over 50 years(!!!) and he has won two Academy Awards, three Golden Globes and two BAFTAs. He is a true legend of the screen, winning the award in 1971 for his role as Jimmy “Popeye” Doyle in The French Connection and Unforgiven in the 90s. I loved him in Bonnie & Clyde.
When I first saw this news I nearly had a heart attack. I love Gene! We learned of the news via TMZ but we are VERY glad to hear now that he is doing ok. Gene did have to get airlifted but his rep has come out and said the actor “suffered bumps and bruises” after the car “bumped” him, but he has been released from the hospital and is doing fine.
This is a HUGE relief. It would have been such a tragedy if THE Gene Hackman had not been fine. What a living legend… the guy is 81 years old and still riding a bicycle – what an inspiration. May we all be as well at his age! Lets send all our good thoughts Gene’s way for a very speedy recovery.
Melissa, I join you in your fan girl adoration of THE Gene Hackman. He is such an icon in my opinion. Glad he’s doing okay. Well done! :)
This post is horrendous. It verges on incoherent. I got a good laugh at the horrible writing (hello, passive voice and weak repetition and nonsensicalness) but really, Trent, you gotta do something about this. I won’t last on this site if this shockingly bad writing continues.
I’m with you D … it was hard for me to get past “Legend” as the start of the post (“The legend, living legend, legendary” all would have worked) and it got worse from there…
