Gallery Of Pics: Baby … Engagement … Marriage
Does Order Matter?

Jessica Simpson Eric Johnson, were engaged for almost a year when she announced that she was expecting, and the wedding wont be until after bub comes along.
Of course there are plenty of stars that marry before bub, this was just a gallery of those that didn’t…some (presumably) get engaged post pregnancy, some people get engaged and decide to have a baby rather than waiting, and then some will get married with baby in belly or later as a cute toddler. There are so many options and as I said… for me, ANYTHING goes.. as long as there is love in the family I think it is a blessing!
What are your thoughts about these celeb choices?

To Jay:18 Years. She got one of Yo’Kids,Got You for 18 Years.
BOO for Alicia Keys and Swizz Beats. He cheated on his wife with her, then abandoned her and went off to impregnate Alicia K. He’s also reportedly screwing around on her too (once a cheater always a cheater!) Yuck. Poor little Egypt.
Also, I totally forgot about Tom/Katie/Suri being in that order. That was a really weird year or two (when they first got together, had Suri, hid her, showed her off, got married…) Wow, almost want to go back and revisit the fun.
Also, you forgot my favorite babies-first family! Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, and their beautiful little kids. Very cute family.
@CMC – you’re right! how could I forget Nicole and Joel? They’re a great family! Thanks xo
I was just about to say that too!
Kourtney Kardashian & Scott Disick, Salma Hayek & Francois-Henri Pinault, Toby Maguire & Jennifer Meyer. I like this topic Melissa….These couples all seem to be making it work as well. Nothing like a little hollywood trend.
Please stop saying bub.
@Ava — LOL!! No, don’t stop.
Where did bub come from?
@Ava — I believe it’s an Australian term, just like “bump” is a British term.
Just wanted to say that we Australians dont have a baby, we have a bub… or a bubs… or a bubby… or a bubba…
I think bub is used because a baby can say “bub, bub bub” at around 7 or 8 months of age, whereas they usually cant say their own name until they are 18 months or older… gives them an early sense of self identity. I still call my 22 month old “bubba” as a very affectionate nick name… (fyi – its not pronounced like in Forrest Gump btw!). I am wondering if those that dont like the term dont have kids?
I am going to put it out there that the rest of the world has to live with SO MANY Americanisms in our every day life because we get so much American TV, its about time Americans had to put up with an Australianism or two! hehe.
GO Melissa!
ps – for what it’s worth, my husband and I were a planned pregnancy-engagement-baby-married couple. We seem to be in good company!
You are correct, I don’t have kids, but I don’t think that’s why it sounds funny to me….. I think it just sounds funny since I’ve never seen it in print. I like your “putting it out there” – I’ve been lawyered! (How I Met Your Mother reference, if you’re a fan)
hehe. Trent, you need a like button! I was just trying to say it in a way that wouldnt cause offense!
Uh, yes we do still call our babies a baby in Australia.
I’m also an Aussie and pregnant with my first – even the doctors, nurses and midwives refer to it as ‘bub’ or ‘bubby’!
thanks for the support of Australianisms…. I’ve got a whole lot more where that came from :)
I have been with my significant other, baby daddy, life partner, husband or whatever titles you would like to include for 6 years. We have a 2 year old daughter with no immediate plans to get married. I hate when people ask or tell me “Why aren’t you married?” Who says I have to get married? I know where his heart his and where mine is. I don’t need piece of paper to say what we already know and feel.
It’s sad to think that the decision to have a baby before marriage is still unacceptable to certain others. It really doesn’t seem to make a difference if the relationship is lasting or not, in many cases it’s the children that keep the bond in the relationship strong. I totally support women who decide to have children with or without a stable spouse. Things like “Teen Mom” on the other hand is a bit overboard In the U.S. there is so much sex education and resources for woman and girls in regards to birth control, pretty much anyone can get it, so it is honestly boggling how many unplanned pregnancies there still are. I’ve been with husband for over a decade, and we have no problem patiently waiting for the right time. I don’t care who, what, or how someone decides to be parent as long as they try to make the best effort to plan the pregnancy and love the child unconditionally. I understand surprises happen, but bring a child into a loving atmosphere.
