Brad Pitt Covers ‘W’ Magazine
The 'Movie' Issue

Brad Pitt may have gone home empty-handed from the 69th annual Golden Globe Awards last night but we can’t feel too bad for the ubersupermegastar. Brad is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new Movie issue of W magazine and in his coverstory interview, he recalls the early days of his acting career … back when he wasn’t a very good actor. Now that Brad is a big star, I guess it’s interesting to read about the early days when he wasn’t a big star … or something. Homie looks really good on the cover of W magazine, tho, I’ll give him that. Click below to check out Brad‘s W coverphoto and read some excerpts from his coverstory interview.

He’s been nominated for a plethora of important awards including two Oscars, but Brad Pitt wasn’t always such a great actor. The 48-year-old superstar admits in the new issue of W magazine that he was once told he couldn’t, in fact, act. It was even suggested after he auditioned for Jodie Foster’s Academy Award-winning drama The Accused that he should highly consider taking classes to further his craft. ‘My agent sent me out for two films. One of them was The Accused with Jodie Foster. I was so excited,’ he recounted to the magazine. But sadly, the audition didn’t go well. ‘I called up afterward and asked, ‘How did I do?’ There were three seconds of silence and then: ‘Have you ever thought about acting classes?” Thankfully, Angelina Jolie’s partner of seven years is far more confident about his acting skills these days. ‘I die really well, by the way,’ he boasted. ‘It’s one of my strong points. I just take a bullet well.’ He can be seen on the cover of the magazine lounging on a chair by a swimming pool, smouldering at the camera. The Ocean’s 11 star appears to be winding down after a difficult day, with a drink in his hand and an undone bow tie slung casually around his neck. And the cover shot was not the only treat the Troy actor had in store for his female admirers. Inside the magazine he can be seen lying in bed under plush blue sheets, eating biscuits. The Mr & Mrs Smith star is still wearing a suit for the photograph, but his floppy brown hair is messy and his sleeves are loosely rolled up.
He features on the front of the magazine for W’s Movie Issue, and is also interviewed by the publication about his latest movies The Tree of Life and Moneyball. And despite the film star’s confidence, when asked by the magazine if he had any characters he would like to do over, Brad answered: ‘Um… the first 12 years of my career, I would think.’

As much as I enjoy Brad Pitt as an actor, I never really think of him as an award-winner. He does a good enough job in the big films he leads but … he never quite gets there for me. When I think of Brad Pitt‘s films, I think more of stuff like Interview with a Vampire or Thelma & Louise. That said, he did a great job this past year in Tree of Life. I think he’ll keep plugging away … and eventually, he’ll star in a film that may take him all the way to the winner’s platform. I guess in the meantime he’ll just have to content himself with insane amounts of wealth, privilege, fame and influence … as well as having one of the most famous women in the world as the mother of his beautiful children. Life is rough but I think he can handle it.

I think he did a fantastic job in Benjamin Button I thought for sure he’d nab Oscar for that one! He surprises me sometimes, I really enjoy him!

  2. Amy says:

His “problem” is that he’s a character actor in a leading man’s body. Most of the roles that he’s been truly fantastic in – like 12 Monkeys – were not leading man roles.

  3. Iheartaustin says:

It was Sean Penn for MILK that beat him!

Trent, have you not seen “Se7en”? His performance was unbelievable.
