E! News is reporting that Beyoncé and hubby Jay-Z have welcomed into the world their first child together. After many weeks of rumor and speculation over whether or not Bey gave birth or not, E! is reporting today that she has — in fact — given birth. As you may recall, we saw photos yesterday of Beyoncé out and about in NYC still very much pregnant … but at some point last night, it is being reported, she gave birth to a baby girl by C-section. Click below for all the reported deets of the birth of baby B-Jay … including the little girl’s name.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z welcomed a daughter Saturday night in New York, the little one’s arrival coming via scheduled C-section, multiple sources confirm to E! News. And the pop ‘n’ hip-hop princess’ name? Drumroll, please … Blue Ivy Carter! (At least that’s what Jay-Z is telling pals at this point—the couple’s reps have not immediately responded to calls seeking comment.) Friend and music mogul Russell Simmons was among the first to celebrate the arrival, tweeting the new parents: “congrats to my good friends Beyonce and Jay-Z.” Rihanna gave baby Blue a warm welcome, tweeting: “Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih.” … Beyoncé memorably revealed that she was pregnant onstage at the MTV Video Music Awards in August.
Unlike the previous rumors, this report from E! News seems to be the real deal. The fact that celebrity friends like Russell Simmons and Rihanna are tweeting their congratulations seems to be the most telling thing about the verity of this report. There seems to be conflicting reports about the baby’s name tho … E! says her name is Blue Ivy after they originally reported it was Ivy Blue, others maintain her name is Ivy Lewis — at this point, without official confirmation, we can’t be sure … but whatever baby girl B-Jay is named, I think it’s pretty safe to assume that she has, indeed, been born. Still, the name Blue Ivy has people speculating that the name might be a veiled reference to a new Jay-Z album titled The Blueprint IV. HMMMM. The New York Daily News has the reported deets of the strict hospital security measures set in place for Ivy Blue‘s birth:
A very pregnant Beyoncé had checked into the upper East Side hospital on Friday night under the name “Ingrid Jackson,” a hospital staffer told the Daily News. Beyoncé and her hip-hop hubby, whose real name is Shawn Carter, rented out the hospital’s entire fourth floor for $1.3 million, the employee said. On Saturday night, people were seen bringing bags of takeout and a dozen bottles of red wine onto the heavily guarded hospital wing. After 11 p.m., even doctors and nurses were barred from entering the fourth floor, prompting one doc to complain that he had patients to see. In an effort to keep images from leaking to the public, hospital workers placed tape over security cameras and are forcing employees to turn in cell phones when they arrive for their shifts, a source said. Several security guards were spotted patrolling the perimeter of the hospital Saturday night. A Lenox Hill staffer confirmed that a patient named Ingrid Jackson was in a “labor room.” Reps for the power couple did not return requests for comment.
LOL! All I can say is, that shit cray. Let’s send out love and congrats to the entire Knowles-Carter family. I wonder how long it’ll be before we get our first look at Beyoncé‘s baby girl.

Lord i hope the name is lewis and not blue.
Blue Ivy? Seriously? Sounds like a strip club.
I thought she was suppose to give birth in February.
I think she was too, but if you’re having a scheduled c-section, the doctor will deliver earlier than your due date.
I heard the surrogate is resting well- congrats to B and J !
The plot thickens…
Am I the only one who thinks it’s a bit messed up that they can prevent doctors and nurses on their floor just because they’re super speshul celebs with boatloads of money to throw around? Seriously, forcing hospital employees to surrender their cell phones? Most nurses and midwives I know are moms with little kids at home – who need to be able to be reached quickly in case of an emergency.
Oh well…this whole circus has been totally crazy. Best wishes for the new baby girl growing up in such a funny world.
I totally agree w/ you, Sfmom. Ugh!
I completely agree with you. For what it’s worth, my sil gave birth at the same hospital, at the same time as Jennifer Garner was giving birth to Seraphina, and they were completely low key about it. My sil only found out she had been there at the same time AFTER she checked out and read about it on TMZ. They aren’t all reaching this level of ridiculousness.
Ugh thank god this is over.
Couldn’t agree more.
Good lord – I hope they didn’t name their baby after his forthcoming album. They have a thing with “4′s” though so Ivy may be a reference to IV.
Ooh… Very clever!
Blue seems to be a very popular ‘celebrity’ name – I think Ginger Spice, Cher and Alicia Silverstone chose it for their kids…
I kinda thought Bey would chose a more traditional name or something a little more unique. And naming her firstborn after an album is just silly.
Wow! I am so shocked that a woman gave birth! What a miracle…
I don’t think it’s surprising that they would have to turn over their cell phones. Lots of employers don’t allow cell phones at work. if there’s an emergency there is a main work number that can be called. What do u think we did before cell phones were so commonplace?
As a person going into this field of nursing, I pretty much scoffed when I read that cell phone thing. Most hospitals (at least the ones around me) give their staff cell phones that they must have. Sorry Beyonce, but you are not more important than the woman next to you giving birth. Wonder if she shut the rest of the labor and delivery floor down? No one else was allowed to have a baby.
JillyD – I know a lot of employers do require no cell phones at work and I know there’s a large chunk of human history where we didn’t have cell phones BUT I also know from working with OBs and nurses and midwives that it is pretty standard for those employees to carry a cellphone at all times. It’s not normal for them to be prohibited from having them and it’s the special exception that I find objectionable…
LOL! I must be the only one who’s amazed that you can actually buy an entire floor! You can’t do that here, no matter how rich/famous you are. It’s just plain wrong, cause those rooms need to be filled with patients, not air. Don’t even get me started on the whole cellphone thing. I’ve worked at a major hospital in Belgium and I even had to bring my cellphone during toilet breaks! The focus should be on health, not on the anxiety wether photo’s will be leaked or not.
I still get a kick out of Blowjob-sorry, sorry- “B-Jay”–as a nickname for this couple.
Agreeing with the renting of the entire floor being ridiculous. My hospital sometimes gets so full they have beds in the hallways because there are no rooms available for patients. The fact that a hospital floor can be rented out is worse though.
I get wanting privacy and all considering the caliber of celebrities these two are but renting a floor and impeding on doctors and nurses jobs to ensure that privacy is not right . Also what if someone in labor had to be diverted to another hospital because there wasn’t enough delivery rooms at their primary physician’s hospital. Also like another commenter said, many of these doctors and nurses need their phones in case of am emergency at home or with a patient so to take their phones isn’t right. Ugh the way we cater to celebrities is disgusting. Congrats to them though.
I am going to assume that there is plenty of room at this hospital or they wouldn’t have done it. I don’t know that I’d want her in the room next to me! And the 1.3 mil can do good for the hospital.
I don’t mind the blue, but i don’t like Lewis for a girl, but maybe i’m traditional.
Is it me or do most of the celebs give birth by c-section ?
Yep, with the accompanying “mommy tuck” so they can claim one and half weeks later to be back into their pre-pregnancy jeans via nursing.
Boi—-Blue Ivy////lol///with Beyonce ass n Jay z lips she bound to be on the hoe stroll by age 15………….LMFAO..
Congrats to B and J… i’ve seen how hard labor can be, im sure it was no problem for Beyonce, i bet she was an awesome coach for the surrogate.
