Some of you may mock me for following Ben Folds, but I am not ashamed to say I am still a fan. I love it when shuffle on my iPod randomly sends “Brick” through my earphones. Try getting that song out of your head! (Listening to this song now sends chills down my spine and my brain down memory lane). So, you can imagine my happiness when I saw on Twitter that Ben Folds, Robert Sledge and Darren Jesse are back in the studio together. Ben Folds Five is back! Again!

He tweeted, “It’s happening fo sho (for sure) – Day 1 in studio with Robert and Darren. New Ben Folds Five record.”

Sure, he may be pushing his luck by using the phrase “fo sho” in public, but the news is exciting. The new album (coming out in spring) will be their first since The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner in 1999 and I am hoping as amazing as 1997′s Whatever And Ever, Amen.

This confirms recent murmurs of the reunion. Ben, Robert and Darren got together in 2011 to record 3 tracks for Ben Folds’ The Best Imitation of Myself: A Retrospective. They are also included in the line up for the 2012 Mountain Jam in May.

Let’s hope this reunion is for good and we get a few new catchy tunes to be pleasantly surprised with on iPod Shuffle.
