Lady Gaga Will Now Offer Free Counseling To Fans During The Born This Way Ball

"I wanted to break the stigmas around 'help' and make it fun."

Recently we heard that Lady Gaga is working on a documentary with Terry Richardson, which I can’t wait to see… for various reasons. I may find the ARTPOP star to be a bit self-centered sometimes, but she’s recently made a decision about the next leg of her Born This Way Ball tour, and I think it’s an interesting idea. The tour will soon have a BornBrave pre-show, which will include free counseling for anyone who needs it. Click inside to learn more.

Here’s the announcement from Gaga‘s Facebook page:

For those wondering about the “counseling” at the BTWBall BornBrave pre-show, it will be a fun tailgating experience for monsters to unite.

At the BornBrave Bus you have access to professional private or group chats about mental health, depression, bullying, school & friends. There will also be food and games, DJ White Shadow and Lady Starlight will DJ with host BREEDLOVE to keep the experience fun.

BornBrave Bus Is a place where mental health + depression are taken seriously w/ no judgement, FREE real help available to all. I feel like most kids don’t look for help because they feel embarrassed so mom + I wanted to break the stigmas around “help” and make it fun.

Even though Gaga makes therapy sound kind of like a party (I’m not sure that it is…), I like that she’s trying to do her part. Ever since the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, there’s been lots of talk about changing our approach to (and understanding of) mental health issues. At least Gaga‘s trying to bring awareness to the issue.

What do you guys think of the BornBrave Bus? Logistically, I don’t know how it works (surely, alllll her monsters won’t be able to join), but it sounds like a cool idea.

I definitely think it’s interesting. A forum that I usually visit was dragging her for this, but in reality – it’s a great step. Not many teens have the courage to go up, let alone come out to family…and coming from that – I know it’s hard to tell family about needing help. Especially when you live with family that’s really old school and doesn’t believe in stuff like that.

    You go Gaga! :)

I love her. She’s really trying to make a change. She’s de-stigmatising counselling and mental health issues. Awesome.

  3. A+ for effort. If even one person is helped, then it is worth it. As you know, I am not a Gaga fan, but I think this is a good move and a win for everyone.

  4. I think it is a great thing. I think there might be some people who see getting help as taking a really big step. If she can make it a but easier, a bit more casual to dip your toe in, maybe more people will get help.

I used to really like her music, she lost me a bit with the prog-rock on her last album. Moves like this remind me of the unique thinking that made me a fan of her work in the first place.
