Are The Spice Girls Planning To Reunite And Replace Victoria Beckham?

Ever since the Spice Girls broke up and went their separate ways, fans have been clamoring for a reunion. That ladies did, in fact, reunite for a world tour a few years ago and, as you may recall, they reunited again this past Summer to perform during the Closing Ceremonies of the 2012 London Olympic Games. Just last week, the ladies got together again for the premiere of Viva Forever!a musical based on the music of the Spice Girls … and now we’re hearing they may reunite again … BUT, without Victoria Beckham. VB does NOT want to be a Spice Girl anymore but that’s not stopping the other Spices from planning to move forward together without her. Rumor has it, they are thinking about — gasp — replacing her in the group — with a reality TV competition! Say it ain’t so!

With their showstopping Olympic appearance and glitzy new West End musical, the Spice Girls are as hot today as they were in their Nineties heyday.

LOL! I love the Spices but, no … there may be a resurgence of love for the group right now but to say they are “as hot today as they were in their Nineties heyday” is not even remotely true. But, I digress …

And now the most successful female group ever are set to re-form for a new album and tour – but without the reluctant Victoria Beckham. Instead, the remaining four members could hold auditions for a new ‘Posh Spice’ – through a major TV talent hunt to rival X Factor. A source said: ‘The girls are going it alone without Victoria. They are keen to get back together and were trying to work out if they could do it as a four-piece. I think they know this is the last chance for them to get the band going again. But the Spice Girls as a foursome is not going to get them another record deal or sell out big venues. They need an extra cherry on the cake. And the cherry on the cake would be if they replaced Victoria. And that leads to the next question: who do they replace her with? At the moment it’s all being done in a very cloak-and-dagger way and not through official channels.’ Indeed, spokesmen for Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, Mel Chisholm and Mel Brown either declined to comment or could not be reached for reaction. Beckham’s publicist said: ‘Victoria respects all of the girls and will always support them all personally and professionally’ … The reunion plan is being spearheaded by Halliwell, who was the first to leave the group in 1998, at the height of their fame. She is understood to have been performing private showcases for record executives in a bid to drum up interest.
She is said to have compared the planned reunion with Take That’s hugely successful decision to re-form without Robbie Williams in 2005 (although he later rejoined). Take That never used a substitute for Williams, but the Spice Girls are considering either a reality TV series to find the ‘new Posh’ – or recruiting a singer with more experience of the music business … The band source added: ‘At the moment they’re thinking who, out there, who’s been in a another band, could “be” Victoria. There would be interest in a television series, but I think they’re keen on someone with industry experience rather than discovering a new star.’ Sources say the girls will announce plans to re-form within weeks.

See, no. This is a bad idea. If the Spices want to tour without her, then they should tour without her. Attempting to replace Vicki B. with a new “Posh Spice” seems like a really bad idea to me. But, considering how much everyone loves reality TV, I can see why they might take this plan under consideration. While I’m all for a Spice Girls reunion, I’m not all that interested in the idea of a new Posh joining the group. No. No. Absolutely HAYL NAW.

NO NO NO NO. The Spice Girls are not as wonderful when they are down a Spice. Hello??? Who cared about them after Ginger left?? Seriously.

    I’m with you Trent

they should just do what they did with Geri…go on without her. they worked fine as a foursome.

  • Amanda

No one could ever be fierce, pouty or funny enough to replace Victoria. I agree that this is a Very Bad idea.

  • Brandon

Finding a new “Posh Spice” is stupid.
I think the new one should have her own nick name and look….maybe something like “Brick Layer Spice” ;)

I think if they don’t have the original group and by that I mean all of them then they shouldn’t reunite at all. I thought it was weird for a few years when the Backstreet Boys did it without Kevin. I’m so glad he wizened up and decided to come back this go around. However, if they MUST reunite and tour and can’t even think about not doing it then they should just go on as 4 and not 5. Remember when INXS had a reality show to find their replacement member? Yeah, I barely remember that as well that’s how badly that one went. I could say the same for a Spice Girls replacement show.

It’s not like she did anything but pose anyway. Add a new spice – not ‘posh’ but someone new with a new ‘flavor’.

There is only one Posh Spice and her name is Victoria Beckham. If the remaining spices want to reunite, then go for but getting a new Posh is the dumbest idea

Perhaps they’re “as hot today as they were in their Nineties heyday” in the U.K. but they’re definitely not the global phenomenon they were back then. If they plan to draft a new member, go for it, but use a different name. That’s my only complaint. Otherwise go for it.

I don’t think they should replace Victoria. I think they should just do it with the four of them. They did it without Geri and Geri was one of their stronger singers. Victoria brings almost zero vocal talent; they’d be perfectly fine.

I will be pissed if they replace her. Dumb idea.
