First Look: Kate Upton Covers The January 2013 Issue Of British ‘Vogue’

Another 'Vogue' Cover-- And They Said She Couldn't Do It!

A little while back we saw Kate Upton on the cover of Vogue Italia and the model that everyone’s been talking about was look pretty amazing in a spread shot by Steven Meisel. I loved the shoot so much that I was unable to refrain from sharing it, much as I’d been trying to stay away from the Kate Upton hype-party, lol. Kate has now nabbed another Vogue cover, and this time it’s all about Vogue UK. Click inside for a better look!

Kate Upton For Vogue UK

Best known for her bombshell curves, the US beauty first made her name as a swimwear model and is now determined to pave a career in the fashion industry. Vogue fashion features director Sarah Harris met the 20-year-old who has her sights set justifiably high.

“Standing at 5ft 10in, with her outsize bosoms and long slender legs, Kate Upton has a body that belongs to the supermodel era of modelling,” Harris writes in the January issue. “Growing up, she idolised Cindy Crawford, Tyra Banks and Heidi Klum. In the flesh, this all-American beauty resembles a young Anna Nicole Smith or Marilyn Monroe; her face is very pretty and perfectly symmetrical (with the exception of that mole, so exquisitely placed to the right, it looks like it might have been drawn on by the modelling gods). She also has the ability, with the slightest of expressions, to flit with ease between girlishly wholesome and full-on sex. All things considered, it’s a knockout formula.”

Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman says her choice of cover girl marks what she hopes will be the start of a new fashion mood.

“It’s very rare for a girl; to move from one area of the business to the other, largely due to the fact that fashion models are almost without curves, whereas swimwear girls are celebrated for them,” Shulman said in her editor’s letter. “When I decided to shoot Kate for our first cover of 2013, it was to kick off the year with a young women who is not a stereotypical fashion model – although, let’s face it, she’s hardly a heffalump!”

I mean. Yeah. I don’t have a whole lot to say about this one… I just love this cover! “Fresh Start” indeed! This is sooo different from her Vogue Italia vcover shoot and I’m really excited to see the rest of the photographs from this spread.

This is gonna be an interesting time– chronicling Kate Upton‘s high-fashion takeover. People definitely thought it wasn’t gonna happen but ummm. I’m pretty sure it’s happening!

What do you guys think of the cover? It’s so simple, it’s almost boring… but for a January/New Year issue, I think it’s perfect. And yeah, I’m gonna need her bronzer. Stat.

I agree, it’s a beautiful cover. This girl is gorgeous and has a body to die for. There’s no reason she can’t make it in the world of high fashion. She’s already doing it. I mean, look at her – she’s barely wearing any make-up and there appears to be minimal retouching. And let’s face it, her SI cover may have caused a bit of controversy but it was one of the best ever!
