Back in April we learned that actor Ashton Kutcher was cast to portray Steve Jobs in a forthcoming biopic film about his life and in May we got our first look at Kutcher as Jobs on the film set. Today we get to see the first official promo photo of Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs as he will appear in the biopic jOBS. We also learn today that jOBS will premiere at the Sundance International Film Festival in January. Click below to see this first promo photo and learn more about the film’s theatrical release.
This coming January is likely to be the first time that anyone outside of a production facility will get a look at jOBS, the new biopic of Steve Jobs starring Ashton Kutcher. The movie, which was initially announced in April of this year, covers 30 years of Jobs’ life from 1971 to 2000 as an entrepreneur and leader of such companies as Apple, NeXT, and Pixar. It also stars Dermot Mulroney, Josh Gad, Lukas Haas, J.K. Simmons, and Matthew Modine. The movie is not based on Walter Isaacson’s biography of Jobs, released shortly after Jobs’ death last fall. A separate film that is based on Isaacson’s book is also in the works, and is being written by famed screenplay author Aaron Sorkin. jOBS is set to be screened on January 27, 2013, the closing night of the Sundance festival. It is not yet clear when it will be released to regular theaters for those that can’t attend the movie festival.
Well, you gotta hand it to Ashton for looking the part. It’s crazy how much the young actor resembles the late tech genius. It remains to be seen how well Kutcher will be able to portray Jobs in the film but the look? Yeah, he’s got that part down pat. Steve Jobs was such a private man, I think there is a lot of interest in what he was really like in real life. I can’t say that I’ve ever been truly impressed by Ashton Kutcher’s acting ability but it’s possible he can surprise us all with a really fantastic performance in this film. I can’t wait to check this one out.
