Kate Middleton & Prince William Are Pregnant!

It’s Official!!! Buckingham Palace has officially announced today that Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, is pregnant with her first child with husband Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge!! Rumors have been swirling about the possible pregness of the young Royals ever since they got married last year but those rumors have seemingly gained more credence in recent weeks. It was speculated that the royal couple would announce the pregnancy in December and here we are, the news has been officially revealed!! This is really fantastic news, isn’t it?

Prince William and his wife Kate are expecting a baby, they announced today. The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales and members of both families are delighted with the news, said a royal spokesman. However, Kate has been admitted to a private hospital for treatment for a severe form of morning sickness known as hyperemesis gravidarum. St James’s Palace said in the statement: “The Duchess was admitted this afternoon to King Edward VII Hospital in central London with hyperemesis gravidarum. As the pregnancy is in its very early stages, Her Royal Highness is expected to stay in hospital for several days and will require a period of rest thereafter.” Hyperemesis Gravidarum is very acute morning sickness, which requires supplementary hydration and nutrients. As the pregnancy is in its very early stages, Her Royal Highness is expected to stay in hospital for several days and will require a period of rest thereafter. Last week, William sparked royal baby fever by accepting a romper suit from a well-wisher and telling her: “I’ll keep that.”

This is all SO damn perfect! I had a feeling the couple would wait at least a year after their wedding to get pregnant, so the timing is really spot on. With the holiday season upon us, most everyone is sure to eat up this baby news. As you may recall, we learned about a year ago that Great Britain was planning to make changes to the royal protocol of succession so that Kate and Wills’s first child will be the first in line for the crown … even if the couple’s first child is a girl. OMG! I really want them to have a girl so that she will be the first British female royal to be born first in the royal line of succession. This is such happy, happy news. Much love and congrats goes out to the happy couple! Let’s hope that Kate is handling her morning sickness as best she can … and let’s hope we get to see a royal baby bump soon :)

Good for them! A new generation of royals! And if this one is a girl she will be heir to the throne even if she has a brother later.

    • Meghan

I do believe this is our first Royal bump watch on this blog, no?

    • @Meghan — Yes, I believe you are right :)

  • Shannon

Whaaaaaaat?!?! Awesome! Except for the severe morning sickness– here’s hoping she doesn’t have to suffer through that for much longer. But yes, awesome prego news :)

    • @Shannon — I’m hoping the morning sickness news is being exaggerated in order to make the baby announcement a cuter story ;)

    • Shannon

LOL, I hope you’re right! My morning sickness was never severe but OMG it wasn’t fun. My whole fridge was STACKED with ginger ale, lol. Man, those were good times…

    • Susan

I doubt it’s exaggerated if she’s in the hospital and they ended up having to announce before the critical 12 week mark. I had a good friend who had the hyperemesis gravidum (or however you spell it) and she was basically out of work for 40 weeks and was in the hospital every other week because of severe dehydration during the entire pregnancy. She said that kid will be their only one because it was so bad. Hopefully Kate won’t have to go through that!

    • @Susan — Yes, that does make sense. It prolly would’ve been wiser to announce at the 12 week mark but because of her hospitalization, they had to announce now. Honestly, I just assumed the morning sickness thing was a cute way of breaking news, I didn’t know that the sickness could be so severe as to require hospitalization.

    • Samantha

I also had a friend with hyperemesis gravidarum, and it was so bad she could barely leave her bed. At her worst she was on a constant drip of the same anti-nausea drug that chemo patients use. Hopefully it is not as bad for Kate, but maybe it will bring more awareness and a cure to this disease!!

  • ClaireMichelle

I am definitely waaay more excited about this than I should be!! Ahhhhh! What a wonderful Christmas present for them! I can’t wait for Princess Kate’s bump watch to commence! She is going to be the cutest pregnant lady, my god!

  • Alejandra

I’m gonna guess that they had to announce earlier than expected it due to her hospitalization- one of those sneaky tabs would have found out and ratted their happy news! Either way, this is such happy news! Don’t even act like you don’t want to see Uncle Prince Harry in action… that kid is going to have the best uncle!

    • Joanna

Yes. Seeing Uncle Harry in action will be amazing. However, I also feel badly for him because this pretty much kills any chance he had of being king. Before now he was 3rd in line and now at the very least he’s 4th and would have to have Charles, William, Kate, and their child die before he does in order for him to become king. But on the bright side, being an uncle is pretty awesome and I know he’s over the moon happy for them. I hope it’s a girl, not only because of the first in line thing, but because she can be dressed as fabulously as Harper Seven is ;)

    • Kate

That’s a pretty awkward thing to say… I sincerely doubt that Harry had his fingers crossed for the demise of his immediate family just so he could be king.

    • @Kate — Honestly, Harry as king would never be able to party so … I’m thinkin’ he’d rather be the Royal Party Animal over a stuffy boring ol’ king :D

    • ClaireMichelle

I am so sorry everyone. I have cut myself off from giving anyone thumbs ups on my phone anymore!! I just can’t learn my lesson!! Sorry Trent, definitely meant to agree with you!

    • Kate

@Trent: Agreed! He gets all the perks with none of the responsibility.

  • Lacey

Imagine all of the fierce, yet classy, maternity wear.

    • Shannon

      Lacey, I KNOW right?!

    • Susan

That’s exactly what I said when I heard the news! As someone who is hoping to join the mommy club in a year or two, I’m hoping she will inspire super cute and high fashion maternity clothes. :)

  • Jennifer Wilson

    awwwww good for them!

  • LOdragonmom

Great news!! Hate to hear about the severe morning sickness – I always had bad morning sickness with my girls, but not my boys. With my last girl I actually had to be on medicine to control it, but thankfully not hospitalized!! I hope it passes quickly!!

    • @LOdragonmom — With your GIRL, you say? I really want Kate to have a girl first :D

    • Jen

Me too Trent! Mainly because I want Harper Seven to have some competition :)

Maybe we’ll get another Princess Diana perhaps?

  • Alyssa

Congrats to them! I have a girl crush on Kate (and her fashion), so I’m super happy for them. Can’t wait to see the adorable preggo clothes she wears.

  • Samantha

    yayyy!!! Go Kate!!

  • kendra

I’m a little too excited about this as well..I just love this couple so much! I can’t wait to see her big ol’ belly!

  • Dee

So happy for them! When a friend of mine was pregnant with her first kid, she had HORRIBLE morning sickness the whole time. She lost weight, was dehydrated, and was hospitalized for a short time. In fact she only gained 7 pounds! Everything ended up fine thankfully, and she had a healthly baby girl. The whole bad morning sickness = girls could be correct. Her second pregnancy was a breeze and she had a boy!

  • Natalea

SO SO SO EXCITED for them! Hate to hear about Kate’s illness, wishing her an expedient recovery and a very happy pregnancy! CANNOT WAIT to see her fabulous maternity clothes!

  • ashley

I hope she gets better soon, HG is no fun at all!! People think it’s just morning sickness, but it’s so much worse than that. It’s 24/7 feeling terrible, and there’s nothing you can really do about it. I am sure they had to announce because someone in the hospital may have let it leak out. So it’s def. better coming from them. Best wishes to them!
